The San Diego Chargers had stumbled out of the block early in the 2009 season and started 3-2 and their rival Denver Broncos were 5-0. The Chargers got revenge on the Broncos after an early regular season loss at home in a prime time football game. In week 11 the Chargers went into Invesco field and dominated the Broncos winning by a final score of 32-3. They had a commanding 13-0 lead at halftime. Denver had lost four straight games and saw their record fall to 6-4 while San Diego had improved to 7-3 and took sole possession of first place in the division.
They were becoming hot at the right time and were putting together a great winning streak. The San Diego Chargers ended up winning the division and were primed to knock off the Colts to win the AFC Championship. The postseason was unkind as the New York Jets traveled to Southern California and upset the San Diego Chargers. This was the second time the Jets had upset the Chargers in the postseason in the past five years. The Chargers will once again be a favorite in the AFC so they very well could represent the conference in the Super Bowl.
