Happy Birthday to Metallica! They’re turning the big 3-0. They’re planning to celebrate this anniversary by hosting a series of fan-club-only show this upcoming December. The band has booked four dates December 5, 7, 9 and 10 at the Fillmore in San Francisco, CA. The Fillmore is a much smaller venue than they normally perform at, holding about 1200 people.
Ticket reservations for this exclusive event are limited to members of the official website, and reservations can be made starting on August 8th. The price of these tickets is cheap, cheap cheap for fan club members. Fan club members has reserved a ticket to all four shows for $19.81 (the year Metallica was formed). Individual show tickets can be reserved for just $6. Not too shabby, eh?
As mentioned, Metallica began way back in 1981 with James Hetfield and drummer Lars Ulrich, later adding Kirk Hammett in 1983 and bassist Robert Trujillo in 2003. Metallica is considered one of the “big four” of thrash metal music genre also including Slayer, Megadeath and Anthrax.
Also of note was Metallica’s involvement with the lawsuit against the music sharing service, Napster for violating the band’s copyright-protected materials.
Metallica has released nine studio albums, including their most popular 1986 Master of the Puppets, three live albums, five extended plays, twenty four music videos and 45 singles. Whew! That’s a lot. Also not to be forgotten, they have won nine Grammy Awards and have had five consecutive albums debut at the top spot on the Billboard 200. Metallica is the first band ever to achieve this title.
