1D Maintains Momentum in 2013 – Tickifieds Top 10

OneDirection-2013-TourHappy New Year!  Although this time of year is typically one of the slowest in the event ticket industry, several events this week are keeping sales going relatively strong.  Top on the list this week are none other than 1 Direction and Taylor Swift.  This battle that surfaced last fall has continued into 2013 and is showing no signs of slowing down.

The first week of 2013 was also good for sports.  The NFL playoffs got underway this past weekend and fans are eager to buy up any tickets floating around in the secondary ticket market.  With college football ending tonight, fans are also interested in college basketball tickets.  High on the list include conference tournaments in addition to the 2013 Final Four.

Last and certainly not least, this week we also find the ever popular Houston Rodeo make the list for the first (but likely not the last) time.  With a powerhouse lineup of some of the most popular country and pop performers, this event will be HUGE.  If you haven’t been on top of this event from a marketing prospective you really need to jump on this now.

Here are the rest of this week’s top 10…

Top Events Week 1, 2013

1.  One Direction

One Direction has picking up right where we left them in 2012… at #1.  These young blokes  are taking the nation by storm and they only seem to be growing in popularity.  Whatever happened to Justin Bieber?

2. Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift continues to attract a lot of attention for her upcoming 2013 Red Tour.  While she hasn’t been able to surpass One Direction this far she has shown that she isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.

3.  Baltimore Ravens

Ray Lewis recently announced that he is retiring at the end of the season.  That means it might be the last hurrah for the Baltimore Ravens.  This weekend they will head into Denver to face Peyton Manning and the Broncos.

Top 10 College Football Games (Week 3)

Iowa vs Arizona Football Tickets

Will the Hawkeyes be able to conrtol the Ball against the Arizona Wildcats?

We have another action packed weekend of college football ahead of us as many schools are just getting into conference play while others have big geographic rivalry games.  The frist 2 weeks of NCAA action saw few surprises as Alabama is still #1, with Ohio State (#2), Boise State (#3), TCU (#4), and Oregon (#5) hot on their tail.  Although no top 5 teams will be playing ranked opponents this week we still have some intriguing match-ups.  Perhaps, most interesting of the bunch is the #9 Iowa Hawkeyes vs #24 Arizona Wildcats.

This game should be extremely interesting as 2 two 25 teams with very different style meet in Tucson.  The key of the game will  be if the Arizona defense can continue its strong play.  If Arizona can cause a few turnovers and contain the Hawkeye ground game we could see a major upset here.

The Arizona Wildcats are coming off impressive wins against Toledo (41-2) and Citadel (52-6) in their first two weeks of action.  Nick Foles, the Wildcats QB, has been impressive racking up 574 yards connecting on 49 of 59 and 3 touchdowns.  His 174.7 passer  rating is good for 11th in the nation.  While the Arizona running game hasn’t been the center of the offense, both Nic Grigsby and Greg Nwoko have averaged over 8 yards per carry.   The big Arizona playmaker thus far has been standout wide reciever Juron Criner.  After just 2 games he has racked up 247 yards on 13 catches and 1 touchdown.  Although, the Wildcats defense will face a big test against the Hawkeyes, they have looked pretty tough thus far.

For the Iowa Hawkeyes, the have also looked pretty impressive while beating Eastern Illinois (37-7) and Iowa State (35-7).  Although the Hawkeyes do not have quite the explosive offense that Arizona has, their methodical clock killing running game has proven extremely effective.  Led by running back Adam Robison (265 Rushing yards), Iowa has rushed for 469 yards in just 2 games.   In the air the Hawkeyes have spread the ball out well with 6 receeiver racking up multiple catches.  Allen Reisner leds the team with 7 catches for 105 yards.  QB Ricky Stanzi has been solid connecting of 29 of 41 passes for 433 yards and 3 TDS. Most impressive is the fact that he has not throw an interception. This is key for a team that prides itself on time of possession and a strong defensive unit.

This game should be extremely interesting as 2 two 25 teams with very different style meet in Tucson.  The key of the game will  be if the Arizona defense can continue its strong play.  If Arizona can cause a few turnovers and contain the Hawkeye ground game we could see a major upset here.

As good as the Arizona – Iowa game will be  there are many other great matchups this weeek.  Below is a list of the Top 10 Games of Week 3!
