The Austin City Limits Music Festival (ACL) is one of the biggest and best concert events every year.  2012 is will be no different as they once again have lined up some of the top musical talent in the world to play over 3 days on 8 stages.  Some highlight of the festival include the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Jack White, Florence of the Machine, The Shins, Weezer, Gotye, The Afghan Whigs, Neil Young, The Black Keys, Gotye, AVICII, Umphrey’s McGee, BASSNECTAR, and the Avett Brothers.  No matter what your musical tastes are, there is someting for everyone!

However, if you are planning to attend the festival it can be a pretty daunting task trying to determine what acts will be playing where and when.  That is why we have decided to put together a quick and easy schedule to help plan your ultimate festival experience.  While you can easily find the schedule over at the official Austin City Limits website, we thought their format was bulky and not easy to grab for you personal use.

Top Weekend Events 09/16 – 09/18

Welcome to your Wednesday top weekend events post!  This list is absolutely dominated by college football games.  A couple other things snuck in there, but for the most part, NCAA Football games are what’s drawing the fan’s eye these days.

The top event for this weekend, however, is not football, but the Austin City Limits Festival.  The Austin City Limits originally started as a live celebration of Texas music recorded American Public television music program by the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS).   It later evolved into the Austin City Limits Music Festival featuring regional, national and international artists with a wide range of musical styles including jazz, alt. rock, alt. country, folk and jam band.  The ACL Festival is an annual three-day festival with over 130 acts!  Over 70,000 fans attend each day.   Some of the big names for this year include Coldplay, Sara Bareilles, Cold War Kids, Foster the People, Kanye West,  Young the Giant, Stevie Wonder, My Morning Jacket, Alison Krauss, Social Distortion, Randy Newman, Airborne Toxic Event and Arcade Fire.  Not a bad line-up!

The Red Sox also make another appearance after a long absence.  They’ll be taking on the Tampa Bay Rays.  The Red Sox are expected to with the AL Wild Card this year.

Outside of that, it’s football, football, football!  The top NCAA Football game is the Florida State Seminoles versus the Oklahoma Sooners.  These two teams are two of the most talked about and followed programs in the history of the game.  This will be their first face-off in nearly a decade.  This game could send FSU back into the national spot light it so famously controlled or it could prove the Landry Jones was just what Oklahoma needed to send them to the National Championship.   While Oklahoma seemed to struggle a bit with their first game win against Utah State, FSU easily dominated Samford with a 59-6 win, a nice feat for Coach Jimbo Fisher’s debut.  This should be a very exciting game!

Tickets to the 2010 Austin City Limits Music Festival are completely sold out. If you haven't gotten your tickets left you better hurry!

Tickets to the 2010 Austin City Limits Festival, held annually at Zilker Park in Austin Texas, have been completely sold out.   The Austin City Limits festival began in 2002 and is one of the biggest and best music festivals in the country.  Proceeds of this 3 day festival benefit the Austin Park Foundation. Each fall, thousands of concert goers flock to Austin, Texas to catch some of the top music acts in the world.  For Austinites, ACL is an annual rite of passage.

This year’s festival will be held on October 8th-10th and will feature some of the top recording artists in the world.  Scheduled to headline this festival are the Eagles, Muse, and Phish.  The concert is spread across 3 days and 8 stages. Day 1 (Friday) will feature headliner Phish in addition to The Strokes, Vampire Weekend, Spoon, The Black Keys, Sonic Youth, Slightly Stupid, Blues Traveler, Amos Lee, and more.  The Day 2 (Saturday) headliner will be Muse along with MIA, LCD Soundsystem, Gogol Bordello, Monsters of Folk, Deadmau5, Pat Green, Matt and Kim, Pete Yorn, and more.  The 3rd and final day will feature the Eagles, the Flaming Lips, Norah Jones, Band Horses, The National, Rebulation, Switchfoot, and many more.

Unfortunately for many music fans, tickets to ACL 2010 are all gone.  However, many tickets to Austin City Limits are still available from both private sellers and ticket brokers at reasonable prices.  So whether you’re looking for a Austin City Limits 3-day pass, or ACL Friday,Saturday, or Sunday only tickets you can still find great deals in our Texas Concert Ticket Classifieds.
