2013 NFL Preseason Power Rankings

If you live in the Chicago area like me and your baseball teams have long fallen out of contention, the start of NFL season can’t come quick enough.  Fortunately, many NFL training camps are set to open in late July and early August.  While a majority of teams have lots of roster questions that need to be answered, many teams are clearly in the running to compete for a Super Bowl, while others will likely be in rebuilding mode.

With that in mind we thought it would be appropriate to break down the top NFL football teams heading into the preseason.  Although a lot can happen (e.g. injuries) between now and the start of the season, below are the teams ranked in order of likelyhood to win Super Bowl XLVIII.

1). San Francisco 49ers

The 49ers nearly won the Super Bowl last year behind 1st year starting QB Colin Kaepernick.  All they did to up their chances was load up on draft picks and sign Ed Reed.  The 9ers have to be the favorite heading into the 2013 season.

2).  Denver Broncos

The Broncos are clearly the class of the AFC.  The stout Denver defense coupled with the addition of Wes Welker and another year  of Peyton Manning should make this team scary good.

3).  Seattle Seahawks

I wasn’t much of a believer in the Seattle Seahawks heading into last season but Pete Carrol has certainly turned around the franchise with the help of Russell Wilson.  Should the Niners suffer a significant injury or falter in anyway expect the Seahawks to be right there with them.

4). Green Bay Packers

You can never count out any team that has all world quarterback Aaron Rodgers.  The NFC is going to be tough this year but the GB Packers should more than be able to hold their own against elite competition- especially if top draft pick Eddie Lacy pans out.

5).  Atlanta Falcons

Call me a doubter of the Atlanta Falcons but I really don’t feel they deserve a spot in the top 5. They do have a high power offense but their defense needs to improve if they are going to go anywhere in the playoffs.

6).  Houston Texans

The Texans really came on last year in large part due to the emergence of defensive lineman JJ Watt.  This young team is certainly on the upswing but still may be a year or two away from getting that ring!

7).  New England Patriots

The Patriots have been the model of consistency over the past decade or so.  As long as Tom Brady is running the show you cannot count out the Pats.  It will be interesting to see what is in the plans for the newly signed Tim Tebow.

8).  Baltimore Ravens

Although the Ravens are the defending Super Bowl Champs, it hard to see the repeating after losing key defensive players like Ray Lewis and Ed Reed.  Anquan Bolden also bolted for San Francisco.  Regardless, the Ravens still have Joe Flaco and

9).  Indianapolis Colts

Many thought the Colts were in for a long rebuilding process after parting ways with Peyton Manning.  That proved not to be the case as quarterback Andrew Luck led them into immediate playoff contention.  If Luck continues to progress this team could be scary!

10).  Chicago Bears

Call me a homer but I like what I see out of new head coach Marc Trestman.  The Bears have never had much of an offense in my lifetime and I am starting to believe things can be different for the Monsters of the Midway.

The best of the rest…

11).  New Orleans Saints

12).  Washington Redskins

13).  New York Giants

14).  Cincinnati Bengals

15).  Minnesota Vikings

16).  Miami Dolphins

17).  St. Louis Rams

18).  Pittsburgh Steelers

19).  Tampa Bay Buccaneers

20).  Dallas Cowboys

21).  Carolina Panthers

22).  Kansas City Chiefs

23).  Detroit Lions

24).  San Diego Chargers

25).  Philadelphia Eagles

26).  Tennessee Titans

27). Cleveland Browns

28).  Oakland Raiders

29).  New York Jets

30).  Arizona Cardinals

31).  Buffalo Bills

32).  Jacksonville Jaguars

Are you ready for the 2 week long, non-stop 24 hour media blitz that comes along with the Super Bowl?  Now that the AFC (Baltimore Ravens) and NFC Champions (San Francisco 49ers) have been crowned, the next two weeks will be filled with analysis, story lines, and of course talk of the most watched sporting event in the world – the Super Bowl.  Super Bowl 47 will take place at the Superdome in New Orleans Louisiana on February 3rd. 2013.

Although tickets to the big game are in big time demand and can be hard to get, many ticket brokers and speculators also profit off of the many Super Bowl related events,  Some of the top events this year include Media Day and Taste of the NFL,  in addition to Emeril Lagasse Pre-GameMaxim, Playboy, and Leather and Laces Parties

Top Events Week 3, 2013

1.  One Direction

One Direction is still number one but their grip finally appears to be slipping.  1D is still insanely popular but the gap is cetainly narrowing.

2.  Super Bowl XLVII

Not much of a surprise here as the most watched sporting event in the world comes in at #2 this week.  Super Bowl 47 will feature the San Francisco 49ers and Baltimore Ravens.  Expect demand to be huge for this event during the next 2 weeks.  Also hot are all the Super Bowl Parties including the Leather and Laces, DirecTv and Playboy VIP Events.

3.  Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift holds strong at #3 once again.  Her most popular shows include Columbus Ohio (5/8/2013), L.A. (8/20/2013), and MetLife Stadium (7/13/2013).

4.  Bob Seger

Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band will be back out on tour in 2013 on their Rock and Roll Never Forgets Tour.  This has been one of the bigger concert announcements of 2013 and should continue to do well throughout the duration of the tour.

5.  Houston Rodeo

The Houston Rodeo falls 1 spot this week but it really isn’t due to any loss of popularity but rather a surge in activity for the Super Bowl.  With the Rodeo only a month away, expect sales to continue to be strong.  For the full HLSR lineup and details check out our previous blog post:  2013 Houston Rodeo Schedule and Lineup!

6.  Chicago Cubs

Fresh off the 2013 Chicago Cubs Convention fans are already starting to think baseball.  Although the Cubs aren’t expected to compete for the NL Central this year they do have an exciting core of young players (Starlin Castro, Anthony Rizzo, and Jeff Samardzija) who should be fun to watch.  Regardless of how they fare in 2013 fans will still flock to Wrigley Field.

1D, NFL Playoffs and Rodeo Rocking in the New Year – Tickifieds Top 10

Houston-Rodeo-2013Despite the fact that this is one of the slowest times of the year for ticket sales, Tickifieds is pleased to report record levels of traffic over the past 7 days.  Although, traffic is not quite where it was prior to Google’s infamous “Penguin” update, we are getting really really close to being able to call it a full recovery.  Although One Direction is responsible for a good chunk of traffic, we saw some major gains made by other events.  Most notable of the bunch are the rodeo events (the Houston, San Antonio, and Austin Rodeos) and the NFL Playoffs (AFC and NFC Championship Games).

Even more encouraging is the diversity and depth of keywords that are bringing traffic to our event ticket classifieds.  Many events big and small listed at Tickifieds are again appearing on the first page of the search results within minutes or being listed.  So stay tuned as the Tickifieds Top 10 is about to get even more competitve….watch our One Direction!

One Direction has picking up right where we left them in 2012… at #1.  These young blokes  are taking the nation by storm and the

2. AFC Championship Game

Despite the fact the teams involved were just finalized last night, the 2013 AFC Championship Game catapulted all the way to #2 this week.  This years AFC Championship will feature two of the most popular east coast teams – The New England Patriots and Baltimore Ravens.

3. Taylor Swift

After several weeks seemingly cemented in at #2, Taylor Swift slipped one spot to #3 this week.  Tay -Tay fans fear not though as the NFL playoff are only temporary.

4. Houston Rodeo

Just when concert ticket sales take a bit of a lull, the Houston Rodeo comes in to save the day.  If you haven’t yet see the lineup, check out the 2013 HLSR Lineup.

1D Maintains Momentum in 2013 – Tickifieds Top 10

OneDirection-2013-TourHappy New Year!  Although this time of year is typically one of the slowest in the event ticket industry, several events this week are keeping sales going relatively strong.  Top on the list this week are none other than 1 Direction and Taylor Swift.  This battle that surfaced last fall has continued into 2013 and is showing no signs of slowing down.

The first week of 2013 was also good for sports.  The NFL playoffs got underway this past weekend and fans are eager to buy up any tickets floating around in the secondary ticket market.  With college football ending tonight, fans are also interested in college basketball tickets.  High on the list include conference tournaments in addition to the 2013 Final Four.

Last and certainly not least, this week we also find the ever popular Houston Rodeo make the list for the first (but likely not the last) time.  With a powerhouse lineup of some of the most popular country and pop performers, this event will be HUGE.  If you haven’t been on top of this event from a marketing prospective you really need to jump on this now.

Here are the rest of this week’s top 10…

Top Events Week 1, 2013

1.  One Direction

One Direction has picking up right where we left them in 2012… at #1.  These young blokes  are taking the nation by storm and they only seem to be growing in popularity.  Whatever happened to Justin Bieber?

2. Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift continues to attract a lot of attention for her upcoming 2013 Red Tour.  While she hasn’t been able to surpass One Direction this far she has shown that she isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.

3.  Baltimore Ravens

Ray Lewis recently announced that he is retiring at the end of the season.  That means it might be the last hurrah for the Baltimore Ravens.  This weekend they will head into Denver to face Peyton Manning and the Broncos.
