NYE and NFL on the Rise – Tickifieds Top 10

Green Bay Packers Tickets

The Green Bay Packers surge to #3 this week following their big win over the Chicago Bears. The NFC North Champs are once again headed to the playoffs.

Although we saw little movement atop this week’s Top 10 most searched for tickets at Tickifieds.com, several events and performers made their first appearance.  Making the largest jump this week is the Green Bay Packers.  Star quarterback Aaron Rodgers, Clay Matthews and the Packers are fresh off clinching the NFC North and are looking towards the playoffs yet again.  Another NFL team making waves are the Washington Redskins. The Skins are currently in a 3 way battle for control of the NFC East.  If the Redskins can hold off the Dallas Cowboys and NY Giants, they would make the playoff for the first time in 5 years!

Other events to note are 3 New Year’s eve comedy and concerts that came in at a tie for the #10 spot on this week’s list.  Once Christmas is officially over, expect New Year’s related events to surge.

1.  One Direction

One Direction is showing absolutely no signs of slowing down as they maintain a comfortable lead over the competition.  1D will be appearing on the XFactor finale tonight so we should see another spike in 1 Direction traffic as parents scamble for last minute Christmas gifts.  Don’t forget, Tickifieds will also be giving away tickets to see One Direction see be sure to register for the ticket giveaway.  For all the details check out:  http://blog.tickifieds.com/win-one-direction-tickets-from-tickifieds-com/

2. Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift continues to maintain her position just behind the champs One Direction.  Perhaps Swift is eyeing the top spot with the recent news she is dating 1D heart-throb Harry Styles.

3. Green Bay Packers

After a big win over the rival Chicago Bears, Green Bay Packer fans are hoarding tickets for the final game of the season (vs the Titans) as well as they playoffs.

4. Brrr! Music Festival

With a lineup that includes Moby, Miss Kittin, Magda, Deniz Koyu, Deniz Kurtel, Chus & Ceballos, Dubfire and Justin Martin , it’s no wonder there is heavy interest in the Brrr Music Fest.  The 2013 version of the festival will be held at Echo Beach in Toronto.

5.  Justin Bieber

Is Bieber Fever starting to cool off?  It sure seems that way as JB slips to #5 this week despite the fact that many tickets have yet to go on sale to the public.  Is the 18 year old starting to get washed up?

6.  BCS Championship

The 2013 BCS Championship game is still drawing considerable interest as fans are still searching for the best deals.  Demand should remain strong through the new year.

7.  Capital One Bowl

The 2013 Capital One Bowl continues to well represent college football.  Fans for both the Georgia Bulldogs and Nebraska Cornhuskers travel well so it should be no surprise that this is one of the more popular bowl games.

8.  Washington Redskins

Robert Griffin III has led the Washington Redskins to a first place tie in the NFC East and has fans excited for the first time in years.  However, RG3 and the Skins are going to make the playoff they will have to beat the Dallas Cowboys in the final game of the season on December 30th, 2012.  This will be a huge game for ticket buyers!

9.  St. Louis Cardinals

It’s a little early to start thinking about baseball but Cardinal fans are an odd bunch.  What else is there to do in St. Louis?  Interest is particularly high for the 2013 Cardinals Season Ticket Holder Reception.

10.  10th Annual Greatest Night of Comedy Tickets

Chicago will be hosting a huge comedy event on New Year’s eve that will feature DeRay Davis, Aries Spears, Lil Duval and Jay Pharoah (of SNL fame) live at Arie Crown Theater.  The 10th Annual Greatest Night of Comedy is looking like it will be one of the hottest events this NYE.

10.  Widespread Panic NYE

Panic-heads are amped to ring in the new year with their favorite band, Widespread Panic.  this jam band with a huge following will be playing NYE at the Time Warner Cable Arena in Charlotte, NC.

10.  Phish NYE

Phish, much like Widespread Panic, is a popular jam band picking up where the Grateful Dead left off.  Phish will be playing a series of shows at Madison Square Garden with the most popular being on New Year’s Eve.

Pop Icons 1D, Swift, and Bieber Reign Supreme – Tickifieds Top 10

Justin Bieber 2013 Believe TourWith Christmas less than 2 weeks away, it is clear that pop concert tickets are one of the most coveted gifts on this years shopping lists.  This week One Direction remains in the top spot with both Taylor Swift and Justin Bieber gain significant ground.  Both artists have several concerts going on sale in the next few days that have raised the level of interest significantly.   Although, only 1 bowl game was able to crack the top 5 this week (Heart of Dallas Bowl), 6 of the top 10 were college sporting events.

Top 10 Weekly Event Ticket Searches (12/6 – 12/13/2012)

1.  One Direction

5.  Louisville Basketball

The 6th ranked Louisville Cardinals has impressed so far this year despite losing earlier in the year to the #2 Duke Blue Devils.  They have big games against Memphis (12/14/2012) and Kentucky (12/29/2012) coming up that are popular at the moment.

6.  BCS Championship

Not surprising…the biggest game in college football once again makes the list.  The 2013 BCS Championship should be a huge seller with tickets selling at record prices.  Both Notre Dame and Alabama have tons of fans willing to travel and shell out big bucks to see history being made.

7.  Rose Bowl

The Rose Bowl is always one of the most popular events every year.  With the Stanford Cardinal set to take on the Wisconsin Badgers you can expect more of the same for this annual New Year’s Day tradition!

Another college football game garnering attention this week is the Sun Bowl.  This year’s edition will feature the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets of the ACC vs USC Trojans of the PAC 12.

1D Holds off Surging College Bowl Games – Tickifieds Top 10

texas A&M vs OklahomaThis week, seven out of the 10 most searched for tickets on Tickifieds.com ended up being college football bowl games.   You can’t say we didn’t warn you!  As we mentioned in last week’s post, each year we typically see a huge surge in interest for college football bowl games immediately following ‘Selection Sunday’.  This year proved to be no different as interested in bowl games was both deep and widespread.

However, even the strength of college football was not enough to knock One Direction out of the top spot.  Taylor Swift held her own as well dropping just 1 spot this week.  Check out the full list below to see how this week’s top 10 turned out.

Top 10 Weekly Event Ticket Searches (11/30 – 12/5/2012)

1.  One Direction

What else is there to say about 1 Direction?  Maybe if we stop talking about 1D they will just go away…

2.  Cotton Bowl

A bit of a surprise here as the most popular college football bowl isn’t even a BCS game.  Nonetheless, the Cotton Bowl is getting a lot of attention as rivals Texas A&M and Oklahoma will meet.  It doesn’t get much better than this!

3.  Taylor Swift

Demand for Taylor Swift concert tickets remains strong heading into holiday season.  On sales for her 2013 Red Tour continue this week with shows in Philadelphia, Los Angeles, Vancouver, Winnipeg, and Nashville officially being released to the public.

4.  BCS Championship

No surprise here as fan favorite Notre Dame will be looking for their first National Championship in nearly 25 years  against an Alabama Crimson Tide squad looking for their 3rd in 4 years.  Ticket demand is extremely high for these two storied football programs.

5.  Merry Meltdown

Fans of alternative rock are excited for the 2012 Merry Meltdown.  The event is scheduled for 12/16/2012 at the Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario, CA and will feature P.O.D., Switchfoot & Anberlin.

6.  Rose Bowl

It doesn’t matter who plays in the Rose Bowl, fans will always be lining up for tickets .  This year the Stanford Cardinals will face the Wisconsin Badgers

7.  Fiesta Bowl

Of all the BCS Bowl games the Fiesta Bowl probably has the best matchup outside of the Championship game:  Oregon Ducks vs Kansas State Wildcats.  Had the season ended a little differently, this could have been the BCS Championship game matchup!

8.  Capital One Bowl

Wow…Nebraska Cornhuskers vs Georgia Bulldogs.  You’d think these two major football programs would be playing in a BCS game.  Nope…it’s the Captial One Bowl!

9.  Chick-fil-A Bowl

The Chick-Fil-A Bowl committee must be pleased to have landed the LSU Tigers and Clemson Tigers this year.  The Georgia Dome will certainly be rocking for this game!

10.  Outback Bowl

This top 10 list is compiled from internal search data from Tickifieds.com and organic traffic from search engines.  Search terms are ranked by using a combination of both sources of search data.

Top Events Week 2, 2012

BCS-Championship-LSU-vs-AlabamaWell, after a bit of a Holiday break we are back to breaking down our top events this week.  Since, often times the ‘weekend’ misses out on some big events that happen during the week we will be going with a slightly new format and will move the post to Mondays starting next week.  Mondays’ posts will cover the upcoming events that will take place during the week (Tuesday – Monday).  For those of you unfamiliar with our top 10 lists, we analyze data from our partner website Tickifieds to rank events by using a combination of page views, search queries, and unique visitors.  So with this weeks edition of Top Events we will be looking at the 2nd week of January 2012 and will include all events from Tuesday January 2nd through Monday January 9th.

Top Events 2012 Week 2 (1/2/2012 to 1/9/2012)

1. BCS National Championship 1/9/2012

No surprise the highly anticipated rematch between the LSU Tigers and Alabama Crimson Tide with a National Championship on the line comes in at #1.  This game will feature multiple future NFL players in what is expected to be a great game between two college football power houses

2. Cotton Bowl 1/6/2012

The Cotton Bowl comes in at #2 and is the only other bowl game featuring two top 10 teams in the Arkansas Razorbacks and Kansas State Wildcats.  Ticket demand for this game has been extremely strong with only the BCS Championship outranking it this bowl season.

3. Denver Broncos vs Pittsburgh Steelers AFC Wildcard Game 1/8/2012

The Denver Broncos are in the playoffs for the first time since 2005.  The polarizing Tim Tebow has raised the interest level in Broncos football considerably since taking over the quarterbacking duties.  Not only is the Broncos season on the line but also the future for the Broncos at the QB spot.  A Broncos loss and many speculate that GM John Elway will looking in another direction.

4.  AMA Supercross in Anaheim 1/7/2012

Apparently Supercross is still popular with the Generator X’ers out there.  The event in Anaheim is the AN FIM World Championship- the Super Bowl of Supercross.

5.  Houston Texans vs Cincinnati Bengals AFC Wildcard Game 1/7/2012

The Houston Texans are in the playoffs for the first time in franchise history.  As such fans are excited and actively seeking out tickets.  The only question is who is going to play QB after rookie T.J. Yates went down with a shoulder injury in the season finale.

6.  Boston Bruins vs Vancouver Canucks 1/7/2012

Hockey is always big in Vancouver and when you bring in the defending Stanley Cup Champions back to play against the team they played in the finals you have the makings of an epic rematch.

7.  Indiana Hoosiers vs Michigan Wolverines Basketball 1/5/2012

The legendary IU basketball program is back after taking down #1 Kentucky and #2 Ohio State in recent weeks.  This week they have a hugh Big 10 matchup with the #16 ranked Michigan Wolverines.

8.  New Orleans Saints vs Detroit Lions NFC Wildcard Game  1/7/2012

The Saints have looked impressive of late and will be looking to get back to the Super Bowl following Drew Brees record breaking season.  It all starts with the NFC Wildcard game against the Detroit Lions.

9.  NY Giants vs Atlanta Falcons NFC Wildcard Game 1/8/2012

The Giants squeaked into the NFC playoffs but have a favorable matchup against an unimpressive Atlanta Falcons team.  New York football fans love their Giants and Eli Manning and company could just keep their Super Bowl hopes alive even if just for 1 more week.

10.  Georgia Tech vs Duke Basketball 1/7/2012

College basketball is always pretty big in the Atlanta area.  Since none of the Georgia schools are looking all that good it seems fans are excited to see the the #5 Duke Blue Devils invade Philips Arena
