Top 10 Hottest College Football Tickets (Week 13)

arkanas vs LSU footballWhat a wild ride this college football season has been. Just when you think the stars are aligned for the National Championship game, a big upset puts everything back into question. This week we saw Oklahoma State get stunned by little old Iowa State. With the loss, the OK State Cowboys drop to #5 in the nation would need some major breaks to get back into the BCS picture.  The loss also hurts the Oklahoma Sooners chances as a win over an undefeated OK State team would have pretty much guaranteed them a #2 ranking.

The Iowa State upset did help out 2 SEC teams vying to get another shot at LSU.  The Alabama Crimson Tide move back up to #2 in the nation- if they can win out the would pretty much be assured a rematch with LSU.  Their game against the Auburn Tigers this weekend will certainly mean a lot.  The Arkansas Razorbacks also got a rankings boost and now sit at #3.  In our game of the week they get their shot at the unanimous #1 team in the nation.  If they can pull off the upset who knows how the BCS Bowl games will play out.

Another game gathering quite a bit of interest is the Houston Cougars vs Tulsa Golden Hurricanes.  The 11-0 Houston Cougars are sitting at #8 in the nation and are looking to make a case for a birth in a BCS Bowl game.  A win over a pretty good Tulsa team would certainly help make that case.  Tulsa is 8-3 and has only lost to Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, and Boise State.

So now that we thoroughly confused you, let’s take a look at the top college football games this weekend.  This week we have a some pretty good match-ups that will likely have a large impact on the rankings.  Again, these rankings are determined by a formula that utilizes page view and search query data from Tickifieds.com and average ticket price from major ticket brokers.

Top 10 Hottest College Football Tickets (Week 12)

Houston Cougars Football

College football fans and ticket brokers alike have been spoiled the past few weeks with some marquee matchups with major BCS Bowl game implications. These big games received plenty of hype and for anyone marketing NCAA football tickets, it was easy to decide which games to focus your marketing efforts on.  However, some weeks it’s not quite as easy to pick the profitable games.  Lucky for you, we have put together a list of the hottest football games this upcoming weekend (Week 12).  Using our propriatary formula that utilizes page view and search query data from Tickifieds.com and average ticket price from major ticket brokers, we have put together a list of the hottest college football games.

It’s not much of a surprise to see top ranked teams such as LSU, Stanford, Oklahoma State, and Oregon on the list of hottest games this weekend.  However, anyone that has spent time marketing event tickets knows that sometimes the most popular events aren’t necessarily the most profitable.  This late in the season many lesser teams have key matchups that will either solidify their position in the conference championship game or qualify them for a bowl game.  This week is no exception as the #1 game features the Georgia Bulldogs as they look to secure the SEC South championship.  Coming in at #1 is the big Ohio State vs Penn State game- despite all the recent turmoil, Penn State will be looking to lock up the Leaders Division of the Big 10.  Another interesting, yet under-the-radar, game is the Conference USA matchup between Houston and SMU.  The 11th ranked Houston Cougars are the only other team in the nation (besides LSU) that has yet to lose a game.

BCS Championship Race Heats Up!

Oklahoma State BCS Title RunFollowing the “Game of the Century” on Saturday night between the top ranked LSU Tigers and the #2 Alabama Crimson Tide, the BCS Championship picture is becoming a little more clear.  LSU has 3 games remaining on their regular season schedule and will face Western Kentucky, Ole Miss, and the 8th ranked Arkansas Razorbacks.  If they can get by the Razorbacks they are almost guaranteed a trip to New Orleans for the BCS National Championship Game as the SEC Championship would be against a relatively weak team from the SEC East (Likely Georgia or South Carolina).

Assuming LSU wins out, the next big question is who will they play for the national title?  Four other college football teams remain undefeated:  #2 Oklahoma State,  #3 Stanford, #5 Boise State, and #9 Houston.  Although the Houston Cougars have one of the best offenses in college football, their strength of schedule pretty much guarantees that they will not have a shot at a national championship.  That leaves 3 teams will a viable chances to face LSU at the Superdome.

Oklahoma State Cowboys Football Schedule

The Oklahoma State Cowboys should have no problem taking care of Texas Tech and Iowa State even though those games are on the road.  However, the Bedlam Game against #7 Oklahoma Sooners certainly could foil their BCS Hopes.  That said, OK State is in the best shape to stay undefeated and face LSU for the title.

Stanford Cardinal Football Schedule
Andrew Luck and the Stanford Cardinal have a huge game this week against the #6 Oregon Ducks.  It gets a little easier after that with games against Cal and Notre Dame but those games are far from a given.

Boise State Broncos Football Schedule
BSU by far has the easiest schedule ahead of them.  They face off against some mediocre WAC talent to close out the season.  With only 1 quality win under their belt (Georgia) it will be next to impossible for the Broncos make the Championship game without both Stanford and OK State losing.
