Taylor Swift gaining on 1D – Tickifieds Top 10

TaylorSwift3Top Events Week 22 (5/22/2013 to 5/28/2013)

1. One Direction

Another week goes by with One Direction kicking everyone’s butts.  With recent announcement of 2014 tour dates don’t expect things to change anytime soon. Really hot right now are tickets to their 2014 concert in Dublin!

2.  Taylor Swift

Miss Swift continues to surge and comes in at an impressive #2 this week.  Although she is still a considerable distance from 1D, if she continues this trend she could surpass the current “kings of tickifieds”.  Popular Taylor Swift concerts include Los Angeles, Chicago and Boston.

3.  Hunter Hayes

The 21 year old country crooner Hunter Hayes has been hot this past week climbing up the charts all the way to #3 this week.  It’s no surprise he is up for several Teen Choice Awards including Top Male Country Artist.  Top Hunter Hayes concerts include 7/18 at the Porter County Fair in Valpo, 8/4 in Costa Mesa and Dayton Ohio on 7/23.

4.  Chicago Blackhawks vs Detroit Red Wings

With the Red Wings head to the NHL Eastern Conference next season, this mark the last time these old rivals will meet in the conference playoffs.  As such, it’s fitting that the Blackhawks have come back from the brink of elimination to force a historic Game 7.

5.  San Antonio Spurs NBA Finals

The San Antonio Spurs are not one of the most popular NBA franchises but that has not stopped them from continuing to win.  Spurs tickets for the 2013 NBA Finals are hot this week as this is probably the last hurrah for this current core of players.  Also, it doesn’t hurt that Spurs NBA Finals tickets are surprisingly affordable.

6. Ke$ha

Fresh on the heels of the debut of her new reality show, her summer 2013 tour with Pit Bull and solo tour this fall, Kesha is hot right now.  Hot concerts right now include Columbus OH,   Atlanta GA and Raleigh NC.

7.  San Francisco 49ers

The 49ers may have lost the Super Bowl but they are odds on favorites to win it all this year.  Fans are excited to see what exciting young QB Colin Kaepernick can do with a full season at the helm of the Jim Harbaugh offense.  Big games include the season opener against the Green Bay Packers, September 22nd against the Indy Colts and Houston Texans on October 6th, 2013.

8.  Boston Bruins vs Pittsburgh Penguins Eastern Conference Finals

It doesn’t get much better than an Eastern Conference Finals showdown between 2 historic rivals in the Boston Bruins and Pittsburgh Penguins.  Games 1 and 2 will be played in Pittsburgh with Games 3 and 4 in Boston.  Game 1 is on Saturday June 1st.

9.  Alabama Crimson Tide

College football season seems like an eternity away but that has not stopped Alabama Crimson Tide fans from gobbling up tickets for the 2013 season.  Bama is expected to compete for a national title once again so demand should be strong all year.

10.  Beyonce

Beyonce will be returning to the states to resume her 2013 Ms Carter World Tour.  Popular shows include Brooklyn, Dallas and Washington DC.

Final 4 and MLB Opening Day Draws Heavy Interest – Tickifieds Top 10

2013-final-four-logoIt should come as no surprise that this week we once again find the NCAA Tournament atop our Top 10 list of events.  The NCAA Tournament, and in particular the Final Four, is one of the most watched events in the country.  It’s been a pretty incredible tournament so far with plenty of upsets including the #9 seeded Wichita State Shockers advancing along with #4 seeds Michigan and Syracuse and the #1 overall seeded Louisville Cardinals.  The Georgia Dome will surely be rocking when the Final Four begins on Satruday (4/6/2013).

Other than the impressive numbers from the NCAA Tournament, notable inclusions on this week’s list are the multiple MLB teams.  With the 2013 MLB opening day today, interest in baseball tickets has certainly spiked.  Of the top 10 events this week, 5 are from the world of baseball.

Top Events Week 12 (3/25/2013 to 4/1/2013)

1.  NCAA Tournament Final Four

The NCAA Tournament Final Four field is set with top seeded Louisville joined by Wichita State Shockers (#9), Michigan Wolverines (#4)  and Syracuse Orange (#4).  Significant traffic is flowing in from fans looking for tickets to the semi-finals and championship game.  As such, full session passes are a popular item.

2.  One Direction

One Direction keeps chugging along as a major force in the event ticket industry. As soon as the NCAA Tournament is over, expect 1D to resume their reign as the top event at Tickifieds.com

3.  Chicago Cubs

The baseball season is underway and despite the fact that the Cubs are coming off a 100 loss season, fans are still looking to enjoy summertime fun at the “Friendly Confines” of Wrigley Field.

4.  John Mayer

John Mayer will be spending the summer alongside former American Idol winner Philip Phillips.  Ticket demand has been surprisingly strong especially for shows in Atlanta (Lakewood Amphitheater), Colorado (Red Rocks Amphitheater) and Milwaukee (SummerFest).

5.  New York Yankees

It could be a looooong year for Yankees fans as age and injuries are really starting to catch up to them.  If the Yankees can stay in the race for the AL East title at least fans know that ownership will continue to open up their wallets!

6.  Washington Nationals

After a disappointing conclusion to the 2012 season, Nationals fans are looking forward to a full year with pitching phenom Stephen Strasburg and young slugger Bryce Harper.  The future is very bright for this team!

7.  Pitbull and Kesha

Hip hop mogul Pitbull is teaming up with ke$ha on their 2013 Tour.  This party duo is sure to draw strong interest from their legions of dedicated fans- especially for those hard to get Meet and Greet Passes.  Popular shows thus far are Atlanta (Lakewood Amphitheater), Holmdel (PNC Bank Arts Center) and, surprisingly, Albuquerque (Hard Rock Pavilion).

8.  Kansas City Royals

A bit of surprise here but fans are excited about the KC Royals chances this year. While they may not have the talent of the Detroit Tigers, they Royals have quietly assembled themselves a nice team that should be in contention for at least a wildcard spot.

9.  Boston Red Sox

Much like the Yankees and Cubs,  Boston Red Sox fans aren’t overly optimistic about their chances this year but that doesn’t seem to stop them from going to games.

10.  Big Time Rush

Nickelodeon stars Big Time Rush (aka BTR) will be heading out on tour this summer with emerging pop star Victoria Justice on the 2013 “Summer Break Tour.”  The tour announcement came just a few short days ago so expect these guys to creep up the ranking next week.

Top Weekend Events 8/12-14

The weekend is almost here, hooray!  It’s felt like a long week already.

The top half of the list is comprised of nationally recognized top acts.  Kid Rock has been absent from the top weekend event list for a while, but he’s finally making a comeback with a hometown concert.  Katy Perry holds the second spot on the list with her Teenage Dream tour.  Her most recent hit songs “Firework” and “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)” are still blazing on the airways and every talent show that’s on TV right now.  Seriously, her songs have been featured on America’s Got Talent, The Voice, So You Think You Can Dance (SYTYCD) and others all within the past few weeks.  Her song popularity rivals Lady Gaga.

Britney Spears’ Toronto show was pinged a number of times in this top weekend list.  This is a HOT concert.  Her Femme Fatale show is continuing to draw huge crowds.

Kenny Chesney and Zac Brown Band (ZBB) seem like they’re the official voices of summer with their great summer songs like “Knee Deep” and “Flip Flop Summer”.  They pretty much scream hanging out around a campfire, drinking beer and hanging out with your friends.

Some of the lesser known names to hit the list include country music artist Jamey Johnson.  He is also the supporting act for Kid Rock’s 2011 Born Free tour and accompanying Rock on a duet or more most of the time.  His most popular song “In Color” peaked at #9 on the Country Music Charts in 2009.   Alison Krauss is a blue-grass-country singer, songwriter and fiddler. She’s currently working on an album with Robert Plant.  She’s been in the music business a long time and has been collecting accolades ever since.

As proof of the increasing popularity of Major League Soccer in the United States, The Columbus Crew makes their first appearance on the list.  The Crew is one of ten charter clubs of MLS, having competed in the league since its inception in 1994.  They have won five major trophies; MLS Cup 2008, the 2004, 2008 and 2009 Supporters’ Shields, and the 2002 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup

Overall, this should be a very interesting weekend.  Enjoy!

Top Weekend Events – May 6 – 8

Hooray for Wednesday!  Since Cinco de Mayo happens to fall this weekend, expect people to want to go out and have a good time!

First and foremost, the top event this weekend is the Kentucky Derby.  This is the most exciting 2 minute sport ever!  This is the first leg of the United States Triple Crown of Thoroughbred Racing.  Expect big hats, big celebrities and big bets going down in Louisville this weekend.

In the ring in Vegas is the headline match of Manny Pacquiao vs. Shane Mosely.  Manny is a Filipino  eight-division world champion, the first boxer  ever  to win  ten world titles, the first  person to win in eight weight divisions and the first to win the lineal championship in four different weight classes.  His stats are exceptionally impressive.  It should be of no surprise that the Boxing Writers Association of America (BWAA) names him “Fighter of the Decade.”  Shane Mosley also has impressive stats.  This California native has accomplished world titles in three weight divisions and is also a former WBA Welterweight Super Champion.  Expect this fight at the MGM Grand in Vegas to be exceptional.

The Showtime Southern 500 is an annual spring NASCAR Sprint Cup race.  It’s a 501.322 mile race with 367 laps that got its start in 1957 and was previously known as the Rebel 300 race.

Follies is the winner of seven Tony Awards, and is thought of as one of James Goldman and Stephen Sondheim’s best musical performance productions.

Then there is the musical sort of genius that is Kesha. She appears twice on our top events list.  Since coming out with her debut album, Animal, in January, 2010, this girl has been nearly unstoppable.  To her immediate opposite is the ever adorable, Selena Gomez.  Her reputation is squeaky clean all the way from her days on Disney’s Wizards of Waverly Place all the way up to her current days of dating teen heart throb, Justin Bieber.

1.)    Kentucky Derby, Churchill Downs, Louisville, KY – Saturday, May 7

2.)    Showtime Southern 500, Darlington Raceway, Darlington, SC  – Saturday, May 7

3.)    Manny Pacquiao Vs. Shane Mosley , MGM Grand Garden Arena, Las Vegas, NV – Saturday, May 7

Top Weekend Events – April 22 -24

Thank goodness it’s Wednesday.  I don’t know about you, but this week has felt really long already.  The Midwest has been under a thick blanket of rain, sleet and even a little snow for far too many days in a row now.  Yuck.

Anyhoo, looking at this list, a theme jumps out.  While Country Music reigned supreme last week, Pop Music holds the title for this weekend.  It’s not all the bubblegum pop either, but a nice mixture of contemporary and urban pop as well.

Harry Connick Jr., finally gets a deserving place on the list.  He has sold over 25 million albums worldwide and is ranked among the top 60 best-selling male artists in America by the Recording Industry Association of America.  Not to mention that he’s cute as a bug and is one funny man.  He puts on quite the show.

Then there’s Jimmy Buffet, the original Parrothead.  He has created the music genre that is now known as “Island Escapism.”   His songs “Cheeseburger in Paradise” and “Margaritaville” definitely encapsulate this along with his Coral Reefer Band.  I oftentimes feel like the Zac Brown Band has a lot of the same characteristics as Buffet.

Now for your urban pop.  Does the name Diddy Dirty Money ring any bells?  Well, it is the one and only Sean “Puffy”” Diddy” Combs.  Mr. Combs is an UBER successful businessman with a finger in nearly every pie not only including music, but fashion (Sean Jean), acting (Get Him to the Greek) and fragrance (I am King).  He is one busy man.  My one question that I have for you, Mr. Diddy, why do they call it a Jeffrey?

Kesha and her Animal and Cannibal tour and Lady Gaga and her Born this Way Tour make another appearance on the list again this week.  Continue to expect them to remain strong in their appeal through the rest of their tours.  Fans want to see these two acts live.

As for your sporting events exciting fans this week, the NBA Playoffs are heating up and getting electrifying.   What more can I say about the Bull’s MVP, Derrick Rose, other than he is phenomenal.  Keep an eye on this player, he’s going places.  The best part about Rose is that he is a humble man.  It’s really fantastic to see.

Wayne Brady is an exceptionally talented, Emmy Award Winining actor, singer, comedian and televison personality.  He has had many successful shows on TV including “Whose Line is It Anyway?”, “The Wayne Brady Show”, “Don’t Forget the Lyrics” and he is currently hosting the revival of “Let’s Make a Deal.”  Brady is very likable and very funny.

  1. Jimmy Buffet, Cruzan Amphitheatre, West Palm Beach, FL – Saturday, April 23
  2. Harry Connick Jr., MGM Grand,  Mashantucket,  CT- Friday, April 22
  3. Diddy Dirty Money, House of Blues, Atlantic City, NJ – Saturday, April 23
  4. Lady Gaga, Prudential Center, Newark, NJ – Friday, April 22
  5. Chicago Bulls Playoffs Round 1 HG 3, United Center, Chicago, IL – Sunday, April 24
  6. Kesha, House of Blues, Orlando, FL – Friday, April 22
  7. Wayne Brady, Silver Legacy Casino, Reno, NV – Saturday, April 23
  8. Kansas City Royals vs. Dallas Rangers, Rangers Ballpark, Dallas, TX – Friday, April 22
  9. Chaka Khan, House of Blues, Atlantic City, NJ – Friday, April 22
  10. Orlando Magic Playoffs Round 1 HG 3, Amway Center, Orlando, FL – Sunday, April 24
