2012 iHeartRadio Music Festival Lineup Announced: Taylor Swift, Usher, and Jason Aldean Among Headliners

iHeartRadio Music Festival Lineup RevealedMusic fans have been anxiously awaiting the announcement of who will be playing the 2012 iHeartRadio Music Festival.  They got their treat this morning as the popular internet radio station revealed the lineup for their 2 day music festival that will take place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on September 21st and 22nd.

The music festival is notorious for it’s eclectic mix of musical tastes.  The 2012 edition will be no different as top acts from the world of country, pop, hip hop, electronica, and rock will embark on Las Vegas this  September.  Country music will be well represented as headlining acts Jason Aldean, Miranda Lambery, Brad Paisley, and Taylor Swift are scheduled to appear.    Pop and hip hop acts include Lil Wayne, No Doubt, Rihanna, Shakira, Usher, Enrique Iglesias, Mary J. Blige, Pink, and Pitbull.  Fans of electronic music ( or dubstep) will be treated to Swedish House Mafia, Deadmau5, and Calvin Harris.  Rock music fans will not be disappointed with the inclusion of Green Day, Aerosmith, Bon Jovi, and Linkin Park.

The day 1 (9/21/2012) lineup will include Green Day, Jason Aldean, Lil Wayne, Miranda Lambert, No Doubt, Rihanna, Shakira, Swedish House Mafia, and Usher.  The music will begin at 7:30 PM

The day 2 (9/22/2012) lineup will include Aerosmith, Bon Jovi, Brad Paisley, Calvin Harris, Deadmau5, Enrique Iglesias, Linkin Park, Mary J. Blige, Pink, Pitbull, and Taylor Swfit.  The festivities will begin at 7:30 PM

Tickets go on sale on Saturday July 14th at 10:00 AM with prices ranging from $82.40 to $447.15.  In the past,  tickets to the iHeartRadio Music Festival sold out in minutes so some luck will be needed to land these highly prized tickets.  For all the details check out the official  iHeartRadio Music Festival Page.

Top Weekend Events 10/21 – 10/23

We’ve made it. We’re more than halfway through the week.  Yahoo!

This weekend’s top events list is, um…odd.  What an odd grouping of events.  Sure there’s still plenty of college football on the list, but some of the games are not expected to show up on the list.  For instance, what’s up with the New Mexico vs. Hawaii game?  I have to imagine it’s kind of a limited audience that would attend this game, no?  Perhaps fans are just eagerly waiting to see if their place-kick block issues will be resolved?

For your obvious games to make the list, clearly the Notre Dame vs. USC game will have a big draw.  Both teams recently had blowout wins (Notre Dame over Air Force and USC over Cal) and are looking to dominate each other.

And, have you realized the Texas A&M has shown up on the top weekend events list for the past 3 weeks?  Those Texans love their football.  As do the Okies.

For your non-football events, this weekend, the Talladega Speedway will be busy with the Sprint Cup Series.  The AMP Energy 500 (aka Good Sam Club 500) is one of four races that are currently run with restrictor plates. And the Coca-Cola 250 has been an exciting event held since 2006.  It was first held as the John Deere 250.

Sir Elton John leads the top weekend events list with his Vegas show.   John began his new show “The Million Dollar Piano” in Las Vegas in September at Caesars Palace, where he will perform at for the next 3 years.    Just recently, he performed his 3000th concert.  Wow! In his four-decade long career, he has sold more than 250 million records, earning him the honor of being one of the most successful artists of all time.

And, if you weren’t aware, Yo Gabba Gabba! is a kids show currently on Nick Jr.  Interesting point, Yo Gabba Gabba! was not invented by studio execs, but by two SoCal dads with no TV experience.   It is now a HUGE deal with the 2-4 year old sect.

Top Weekend Events – July 1st – 4th

Ultimate Fighting ChampionshipWell, it’s Wednesday again.  This is the big 4th of July weekend and people for sure want to get out and see some baseball!  They have a number of excellent games to go see.

While baseball games, particularly on the 4th, are reigning supreme on the list, some other “manly” events are of note.  Taking top placement of events going on this weekend is the mixed martial arts event held by the Ultimate Fighting Championship in Vegas.  Originally, the event was set to be a rematch between B.J. Penn and Jon Fitch, but, given the nature of the sport, both competitors had to bow out due to injuries.    This started a whole ripple of injuries replacements from the event, including Evan Dunham, Jason Miller, and Cub Swanson.  The main event, Bantamweight Championship is between Dominick Cruz and Urijah Faber.  UFC 132 will broadcast it’s two preliminary fights live on Spike TV and the remaining fights will be streamed on Facebook.  How’s that for using social media?

The Coke Zero 400 Race is a 160 lap, 400 mile NASCAR Sprint Series stock car race at the Daytona International Speedway.  This particular race has been around since 1959 and usually held around 4th of July, and has held other names such as the Firecracker 250, Firecracker 400, Pepsi Firecracker 400 and Pepsi 400.  This year’s event will again be televised on TNT.

As for your top weekend concerts, the men of country seem to hold their fan’s attention.  Toby Keith will be playing at the Henry Maier Festival Park at Summerfest in Milwaukee, WI.  Mr. Keith with special guest Eric Church are the headliners for the day, but other notable (free with admission!) acts include; Girl Talk, Los Lonely Boys, Los Lobos, Anberlin, Third Eye Blind, Red Jumpsuit Apparatus an Taj Mahal.  Kenny Chesney is the other man of the weekend with his show in Pittsburgh.  There’s something about country music, fireworks, a cold beer and celebrating the 4th, isn’t there?

So, all in all, people are looking for good old fashioned events that remind folks about our American pastimes; music, baseball and having a good time.
