Milwaukee Summerfest Heats up June 29th – July9th

Summerfest11 days, 11 stages over 700 bands.  That is just a brief summary of the Milwaukee Summerfest, the “Big Gig”. Every summer, usually around July 4th, droves of fans travel to Henry Maier Festival Park on Lake Michigan in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to take part in the annual “World’s Largest Music Festival” as dubbed by Guinness World Records in 1999.  Summerfest usually has crowds of about 800,000 – 1,000,000 people over the 11 days to see amazing, headlining acts.  This has been an annual tradition since 1968.  The line-up is a who’s who of popular and familiar bands.  The bands range from Pop to Country to Hip Hop to Rap and everything in between.  There is absolutely something at Summerfest for everyone. What’s even better is that shows are “free” with purchase of admission of $8 – 15.  The headlining acts at the Marcus Amphitheatre are an additional cost however. There are also comedy shows and extreme sports exhibitions.  All in all, it’s a pretty outstanding deal.  If you’ve never heard, for been to Summerfest for that matter, you really should.

This year the opening headliner is Peter Gabriel and the New Blood Orchestra.

The exceptionally remarkable line-up is as follows, but please keep in mind that this is a very small sampling of the bands performing at the event.  The headlining act of the day is bolded.

Farm Aid 25 Set to Help Wisconsin Farmers

Farm Aid 25

Farm Aid 25 will feature such artists as Neil Young, Willie Nelson, Dave Matthews, John Mellencamp, Kenny Chesney, Norah Jones, Jason Mraz, Jeff Tweedy, and many more!

This year’s edition Farm Aid, the annual all-day music festival to help keep family farmers in operation, will take place for the first time in America’s Dairyland- Wisconsin.  Farm Aid 25: Growing Hope for America will be hosted at Miller Park in Milwaukee on October 2, 2010 and will feature some of the top music acts in the Country including Neil Young, Willie Nelson, Dave Matthews, John Mellencamp, Kenny Chesney, Norah Jones, Jason Mraz, Jeff Tweedy, and many more.

If the incredible Farm Aid 25 lineup wasn’t enough to draw you in, this festival will also feature ‘Homegrown’ local family farm concessions stands.  In the Homegrown Village, concert goers can also participate in hands-on activities that give people a chance to meet farmers, get their hands dirty, and learn how family farmers are protecting our land and water and connecting us to our roots.

The mission of Farm Aid “ is to build a vibrant, family farm-centered system of agriculture in America.”  Proceeds from Farm Aid 25 will go to support Farm Aid’s work with family farmers and to inspire people to choose family farm food.  Since Farm Aid began in 1985 over $37 million dollars have been raised.

Ticket to Farm Aid are always extremely difficult to get as fans from across the country travel for this concert event.  Although Farm Aid 25 tickets don’t officially go on sale until Saturday, August 14, at 9 a.m., Free Ticket Classifieds already has tickets listed in their Wisconsin Concert Ticket Classifieds section.
