NFC North Preview: 2013 NFL

200715_27If you’ve been keeping track at all, the NFC North has only won one Super Bowl title in the past 12 years (Green Bay, Super Bowl XLV) and Chicago, Detroit and Minnesota have only one championship between them. What they do have on their sides is raw star power.

The North has a real gem in the league’s top receiver, Calvin Johnson, superstar running back Adrian Peterson, who superseded his position last season in the field, and without question its top notch quarterback in Aaron Rodgers.  If those players weren’t enough, the league also has Julius Peppers, Clay Matthews, Jared Allen and Brandon Marshall. The NFC North is certainly a force to be reckoned with in terms of talent.

While Green Bay might be the favored for the 2013 season, there are so many possibilities with the way that this season could end up.   There are probably four possibly playoff teams and on the flip side, at least three that could totally tank.

Here’s a peak at the NFC North Division:

Chicago Bears-

With the hire of new head coach Trestman, a sea change in approach for the Bears has been launched.  Trestman got rid of former coach Lovie Smith’s defense-first philosophy and implemented a CFL-honed offensive stylings.  Things should go better for Cutler this year, but with so much change, anything is possible. The Bears will be quite formidable with the football, especially with Martellus Bennett.  While defense last year was a top 5 set, Trestman has his work cut out for him this year.  Things look very good for the Bears in 2013.

Detroit Lions:

The Lions should be pretty middle of the pack this season.  Hopefully somewhere between their 2012 and 2011 seasons. The players to watch are Stafford, Johnson and Bush, and especially Ryan Broyles.  The offensive line and defense are still worrisome.  While this seasons seems markedly improved over last year’s, playoff potential still seems questionable.

Green Bay Packers:

Thought Green Bay won a second straight division title, last season was annoying for the Packers. They couldn’t match up against the NFL’s elite, ending in a 45-31 playoff loss to San Francisco.  While they are down a couple decent players this year, like Jennings, the Packers seem to be better poised.   GB added a few superb run-game players, and Rodgers will be that much more of a threat. Green Bay once again seems to be the the team to beat in this division and an almost expected Super Bowl contender.

Minnesota Vikings:

Adrian Peterson totally ran the show last year.  While he is a phenomenal player, the rest of the team needs to pull their weight if they want to keep ahead of the Bears and the Lions and beat the Packers in order to become Super Bowl contenders.  Things are stacking up well for the Vikings, if Ponder and Cassel can keep the team in line and quit with the excuses.  The Vikings are capable to go the distance this season, but there is not much room for error.

What do you think of how the teams are looking in the NFC North for 2013?

Jingle Ball and Taylor Swift Gain on 1D – Tickifieds Top 10

2012 Jingle Ball

With lineups of the various Jingle Balls and Jingle Jams slowly being revealed, it’s no wonder the Jingle shows are trending.

This edition of our top 10 events on Tickifieds.com is much the same as previous weeks.  One Direction is still king with both Taylor Swift and Disney on Ice trailing considerably. However,  a new challenger has emerged, the Jingle Ball and Jingle Jam events.  If your haven’t started promoting these “Jingle shows” now is the time to start!

Perhaps most noticeable, is the lack of football from the chart this week.  While we still get considerable traffic for both NFL and college football, only 1 NCAA football team made the list this week – the Clemson Tigers.  Several NFL teams essentially tied for 10th place but that is a far cry from previous weeks which were dominated by football.  This isn’t necessarily a reflection of the relative demand for football tickets but likely a statement about the virality(yes we did make up that word) of concert tickets.  Demand for football tickets is rather constant with the notable exception of when playoff and bowl game matchups are announced.

So let’s take a peak at what events are currently trending at Tickifieds…

Top 10 Weekly Event Ticket Searches (11/6 – 11/14/2012)

1.  One Direction

One Direction mania continues for yet another week.  While a few top acts are gaining some ground on 1D, things really aren’t all that close as Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam  Payne, Harry Styles, and Louis Tomlinson still have all the tweener girls swooning. In case you needed any further proof check out Tickifieds list of most popular events.

2.  Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift stays strong again this week as her tickets are scheduled to go on sale to the public on Friday.  Expect Ms. Swift to be a mainstay on this list for weeks and months to come.  The most popular shows appear to be 5/8/2013 in Columbus, 7/6/2013 in Pittsburgh, and 8/10/2013 in Chicago.

3.  Jingle Ball / Jingle Jam

With lineups of the various Jingle Balls and Jingle Jams slowly being revealed, it’s no wonder the Jingle shows are trending.  It also helps that tops acts like Justin BieberTaylor Swift, and One Direction will be playing a few of them.  Perhaps the most popular is the KIIS FM Jingle Ball which will take place over 2 days.

4. Disney On Ice

Disney on Ice (DOI) has a ton of shows throughout the holiday season across the nation.  Rather than list an enormous list of DOI shows, we suggest you search Disney on Ice  in our Concert and Event categories.

5. Bruce Springsteen

“The Boss” is back on tour after campaigning for president Obama.  Popular upcoming concerts include 11/28 in Portland, 11/30 in Oakland, and 12/6 in Glendale,

6.  Carrie Underwood

Country music superstar is still going strong as she wraps up her fall tour.  He recently announced 2013 schedule got her a bit of a bump this week.  Hot upcoming shows include 11/24 in Indianapolis, 11/27 in Pittsburgh, 12/1 in Newark, and 12/19 in Atlanta.

7. Clemson Tigers Football

Fans in Clemson South Carolina are excited about the prospect of being in a BCS Bowl game.  The Clemson Tigers are a solid bet to represent the ACC in one of the feature bowl games in 2013..perhaps the Sugar Bowl?

8.  The Who

Legendary rockers The Who are currently out on tour and have a ton of shows schedule through February 2013.  Notable upcoming shows include 11/24 in Detroit, 11/27 in Minneapolis, and 11/29 and 11/30 in Rosemont.

9.  National Finals Rodeo

The National Finals Rodeo is getting set to take stage in Las Vegas this December.  This annual event will take place from December 6th through the 15th at the Thomas and Mack Center and is always a big draw.

10.  NFL Football

This one was close so we just decided to lump several NFL teams together who all both almost made this weeks top 10 list.  Notable teams include the NY Giants, Chicago Bears, Atlanta Falcons, and even the Minnesota Vikings.  Where are the AFC teams?

This top 10 list is compiled from internal search data from Tickifieds.com and organic traffic from search engines.  Search terms are ranked by using a combination of both sources of search data.

Top 10 Events This Weekend (12/17 – 12/19)

Well, here it is Wednesday again.  Time to announce the top ten events that are going on this weekend!

The top ten are heavy on the music with pop superstar Justin Bieber and his My World Tour and the incomparable Prince with his 20Ten Tour, both nabbing 4 0f the 10 positions.  Given that Nashville is one of the country music capitals of the world, it shouldn’t be surprising that country legend Mr. Garth Brooks is making quite the splash there.

Football is of course, another exceptionally popular event this time of year.  The Rams vs. Chiefs game is garnering quite a lot of attention.  There is a lot on the line for both the teams as the Chiefs are trying to hang on to their small lead over San Diego by one game in the AFC West and the Rams are momentarily tied with their rival Seattle for first place in the NFC West.

Another exciting football game should be the Vikings vs. Bears game for Monday night football.  The real question with that game is, where are they going to play?  Given that the roof caved in on the Metrodome in Minneapolis under the immense pressure of the snow, the venue is still TBD.

The Giants vs. Eagles game pits the two against each other in a battle to see who will be the division leads. The winner of this game will be in a super position for the playoffs. The loser will still be a contender for the playoffs, but the certainty will be gone.

  1. Prince – Saturday, 12/18/2010 – Madison Square Garden, NY, NY
  2. St. Louis Rams vs. Kansas City Chiefs, Sunday, 12/19/2010 – St. Louis, MO.
