NBA and NHL Playoff Tickets Dominate – Tickifieds Top 10

Been a busy weelk so we’ll spare you the mindless chit-chat and get straight to this week’s top 10.

Top Events Week 15 (5/2/2013 to 5/8/2013)

1.  One Direction

Still no change atop the Tickifieds Top 10.  1D is still drawing record amount of traffic to Tickifieds.com.

2.  Chicago Bulls

The Chicago Bulls have been one of the more surprising stories of the 2013 NBA Playoffs.  Not only did a depleted Bulls team loaded with injuries pull off the upset of the Brooklyn Nets in the first round, they also stole home court advantage by beating the defending NBA Champs in Game 1.  Throw in rumors of a Derek Rose return and you can imagine there is a lot of interest in tickets.

3.  Justin Bieber

With Justin Bieber’s US Tour set to kick off in a month, ticket demand is starting to surge.  Of course the Justin Bieber Meet and Greet tickets are in big demand but so are tickets to shows in San Diego, Brooklyn and Omaha.

4.  Miami Heat

If the Chicago Bulls upset win over the Miami Heat in Game 1 of the NBA Eastern Conference Playoffs did anything, it got Miami fans to wake up.  After a physical Bulls team had their way with Lebron James and Dwayne Wade, the Heat played with a sense on panic in Game 2.  With the series tied 1-1 there will certainly be a Game 5 in Miami.

5.  Darren Criss

Darren Criss slides a bit this week but nothing coming in at #5 is nothing to sneeze about.  The Glee star has shown impressive fan support on this his first tour.  Popular shows include Dallas, Nashville and New York.

6.  Chicago Blackhawks

The Chicago Blackhawks, the #1 overall seed in NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs, have a 3-1 advantage over the Minnesota Wild.  The Hawks will look to clinch tonight and advance to the second round.  Fans are already looking to secure 2nd round playoff tickets as the Wild just aren’t going to get back into the series especially with all their goalie trouble.

7.  Golden State Warriors

Golden State Warrior fans haven’t had much to cheer about since the days of Chris Mullins.  That all changed when Stephen Curry fully emerge as the new face of the franchise.  The Warriors are up against the top seeded San Antonio Spurs and are all tied at 1-1.  Game 4 in Oakland is on Sunday and is getting a ton of traffic!

8.  Boston Bruins

The Boston Bruins have looked impressive thus far with a commanding 3-1 lead over the Toronto Maple Leafs.  The Bruins will look to advance with Game 5 on Friday in Boston.

9. Justin Timberlake

JT recently announced the followup to his Legends of Summer Tour with Jay-Z – the 20/20 Experience World Tour.  Tickets haven’t even fully gone on sale yet but there is already huge demand.  Timberlakes most popular shows include Las Vegas, Houston and Columbus.

10.  New York Rangers

The New York Rangers are currently in a heated battle with the rival Washington Capitals.  The series is all tied up at 2-2 with Game 5 on Friday in Washington.  Game 6 will be on Sunday in New York.

This top 10 list is compiled from internal search data from Tickifieds.com and organic traffic from search engines.  Search terms are ranked by using a combination of both sources of search data.

NBA Basketball is back and tickets are hot!

Clippers Tickets are hotNBA fans across the nation are happy as the 2011-2012 season has begun.  Following the labor dispute, the NBA season has been shortened to just 66 games.  That means that teams have to squeeze in a lot of games in a short period of time.  As such the season is filled with back-to-back and back-to-back-to-back games.  While the work load is likely difficult on the NBA players, fans get to enjoy some great basketball on each and every night.

In the event ticketing world, NBA tickets are a bit of an untapped market.  While most ticket brokers turn their attention to events that yield higher profit margins such as  concerts and football (both NFL and College), the market is also strong for many NBA teams.  So if you are looking to sell tickets to NBA games we’ve put together a list of the top 10 teams to market for the 2011-2012 NBA Season.

1.  LA Clippers

This one is a bit of a surprise as the Clippers have been overshadowed by the LA Lakers.  However, the addition of Chris Paul and the emergence of Blake Griffin has really drawn a lot of fan interest.

2. New York Knicks

NY Knicks fans have been waiting for a decent team to root for since the Patrick Ewing era.  With Carmelo Anthony back and the addition of Tyson Chandler this team is one of the top contenders in the NBA East.

3. Chicago Bulls

Since the Michael Jordan era Bulls tickets have always been a commodity.  Now that the Bulls are once again title contenders with MVP Derrick Rose at the helm, tickets are in even more demand.

4. Miami Heat

The Miami Heat would be much higher on the list if it weren’t for the fact they play in Miami.  Even with the 3-headed beast of James, Wade, and Bosh Miami fans just don’t seem to care much until playoff time.  Miami has to be one of the worst cities for professional sports fans!

5. Oklahoma City Thunder

Although Oklahoma City is not exactly a big basketball city, Kevin Durant and company are one of the most exciting teams in the NBA.

6. LA Lakers

Los Angeles Lakers tickets are always in demand and this season will be no exception even though they are expected to be on the decline following the retirement of Phil Jackson.  However, any team with Kobe Bryant will draw in the fans.

7. Orlando Magic

Magic fans are coming out in droves to convince perennial MVP candidate Dwight Howard he should stay.

8. Dallas Mavericks

Fresh off their NBA Championship season the Mavs are a little long in the tooth but they still are the champs.  They also still have Dirk Nowitski and should be a lock for another playoff season.

9. New Jersey Nets

Tickets to Nets games are on the rise with continued rumors of a Dwight Howard trade.  Throw in a move next year to the Bronx and the acquisition of Deron Williams and things are looking up for the Nets franchise.

10. Denver Nuggets

It looks as though Nuggets fans are saying good riddance to Carmelo Anthony.  While they no longer have their superstar their team basketball and solid defense has them looking really good!

NBA Eastern Conference Finals Preview: Bulls vs Heat

Derrick Rose vs Lebron James

Chicago Bulls guard Derrick Rose guards the Heat's Lebron James in the NBA Eastern Conference Finals!

If the 2011 NBA Playoffs haven’t already been exciting enough, the NBA Eastern Conference Finals will feature MVP Derrick Rose and his Chicago Bulls against public enemy #1 Lebron James and the Miami Heat.  This matchup has all the making of a classic playoff series with many drama filled story-lines dominating the headlines.  Chicago Bulls fans, as well as basketball fans in general, have reason to dislike the Miami Heat.  Not only did Lebron James, Dewayne Wade, and Chris Bosh all snub their noses at Chicago, Lebron James ego-maniacal choice to air his “decision” on live national television has made him the subject of much criticism.  The Miami Heat also drew scorn  for the way in which the celebrated their game 5 Eastern Conference semi-final victory over the Boston Celtics.  The Heat celebrated as if they had won the NBA championship already. Come on Lebron, act like you’ve been there before!  You actually have…

This was in stark contrast to the calm and respectful way in which the Bulls clinched a birth in the Eastern Conference Finals. This should come as no surprise to anyone who follows NBA basketball.    The Miami Heat have become synonymous with selfish, look-at-me basketball while the Bulls have done it all season with selfless, team oriented basketball.  The Bulls humble superstar Derrick Rose is the antithesis of James and Wade choosing to credit teamates rather than draw attention to himself.

This series will be a classic tale of talent (Miami) vs heart (Chicago).  There is no question the Miami have one of the most talented teams in NBA history with mega-stars in Lebron James and Dwayne Wade and their sidekick allstar Chris Bosh.  However, the Heat have struggled all season long to find an identity and to close out games.  James, as he has throughout his NBA career, has proven not to be much of a clutch performer and has had trouble differing the big shots to Dwayne Wade. The key for the Miami Heat will be how Chrissy Bosh end up playing.  Last time these 2 teams met, the Miami Heat were crying in the locker room after another loss.  Chris Bosh has been ineffective in the Heat’s 3 losses to the Bulls and James and Wade failed to perform in the clutch.  If the Heat are going to have a shot at going to the NBA finals, Bosh will have to play like an all-star.

The Bulls on the other-hand have a clear leader in Rose and a cast of legitimate sidekicks who share equally in the glory.  Center Joakim Noah and small forward Luol Deng are all key contributors on both the offensive and defensive ends.  Carlos Boozer, who despite his recent struggles is  key inside presence.  Keith Bogans is  a defensive specialist who will have the task of shutting down Wade as well as hitting an occasional 3-pointer.  For the Bulls the key to the series will be the play of Carlos Boozer.  If Boozer can play like he did in Game 6 against the Atlanta Hawks, the Heat will have their hands full.  If Boozer can’t get his act going, the Bulls know they have another solid option in Taj Gibson.  Gibson is an excellent defender and shows on occasion an offensive prowess.  As Derrick Rose said, “Taj doesn’t even know how good he is”.  Unlike the Heat, the Bulls have a cast of characters who could end up being difference makers- from Taj Gibson, Omir Asik, Kyle Korver, Ronnie Brewer to Tim Thomas the Bulls have reserves that are more than capable of contributing solid mintues.  That is why each of the Heat’s big 3 must play well each and every game.

Game 1 of the Chicago Bulls vs Miami Heat will be on Sunday Night 5/15 at the United Center in Chicago.

MVP Derrick Rose Lifts Bulls over Hawks in Game 3

Derrick Rose

The Bulls Derrick Rose scores a career playoff high 44 points in the Bulls 99-82 victory in Game 3

Newly crowned NBA MVP Derrick Rose played inspired basketball on Friday night in a 99-82 Chicago Bulls victory.  Rose scored a career playoff high 44 points on 16-27 shooting including 4-7 from 3 point land and 8-9 from the line.  Rose also added 7 assists and 5 rebounds to go along with a blocked shot and a steal.  What is most impressive about this performance is the fact that Derrick appears to finally be healthy after spraining his ankle in the Pacers series and again in Game 1.  Since the injury Rose has appeared to be hesitant to drive into the lane and draw contract and get to the free throw line.  In game 3 we saw the Derrick Rose that is the best and most complete player in the NBA- one that hits his jump shots and creates in the lane.

The Bulls victory however was not all Derrick Rose.  The Bulls stifling defense and ability to rebound also deserves a lot of credit.   The defense held 5 time NBA Allstar Joe Johnson to just 10 points on 4-12 shooting.  The only bright spots for the Hawks were Josh Smith who contributed 17 points and 13 rounds and Jeff Teague who led the team with 21.  The Bulls out rebounded the Hawks 47-34 including 18 offensive rebounds compared to the 9 for the Hawks. Despite that fact that Joakim Noah scored only 2 points he played some impressive D, grabbed 15 boards (8 offensive), and tallied 5 block shots.

Another key contributor for the Bulls was Taj Gibson who filled in nicely for the struggling, injured, and foul plagued Carlos Boozer.  Taj added 13 points and 11 rebounds in just 265 minutes of action.

The win in game 3 gives the Bulls a 2-1 advantage over the Atlanta Hawks in the best of seven Eastern Conference Semifinals.  Game 4 will be held in Atlanta on Sunday 5/8/2011.  If the Bulls win game 4 they will have a chance to clinch the series in Game 5 in Chicago on 5/10/2010.
