Updated BCS Bowl Game Projections and Week 13 Games of the Week

Since the regular college football season is beginning to wind down, this week we decided to combine our updated BCS Bowl game projections with our top 10 games of week 13.  This is particularly fitting as many of this week’s top games also have huge implications on what match ups will be slated for the post-season bowl games.  Let’s kick things off with a look at the BCS Bowl game projections…

BCS National Championship Game

Notre Dame Fighting Irish vs Alabama Crimson Tide – With Kansas State and Oregon both losing on Saturday, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish are the new #1 team in the nation.  Notre Dame has just 1 game left against the USC Trojans.  This would be a difficult match up if Matt Barkley was expected to play.  Howeverm, without the star QB, Notre Dame fans can pretty much start buying tickets to the BCS National Championship game in New Orleans.  With Oregon and K State out of the way, Alabama is in a good position to return to the big game.  The Crimson Tide will need to beat Auburn in the final regualr season game before facing the Georgia Bulldogs in the SEC Championship game.  If the Bulldogs pull off the upset, they would likely earn a trip to NOLA.

Fiesta Bowl

Kansas State Wildcats vs Clemson Tigers – Although Kansas State lost this past Saturday, they will still win the Big 12 and should earn a trip to the Fiesta Bowl at the University of Phoenix Stadium.  However, Clemson is no lock here as they will need to beat South Carolina #13 South Carolina.  Should South Carolina win, Stanford will likley get the nod.

Sugar Bowl

LSU Tigers vs Oklahoma Sooners – Assuming Alabama is headed to the BCS title game, the SEC representative for the Sugar Bowl would likely be LSU.  The at-large team would then likely be the Oklahoma Sooners of the Big 12.

Orange Bowl

Florida State Seminoles vs Rutgers Scarlet Knights – FSU appears to have the ACC locked up and will represent them in the Orange Bowl in 2012.  With their loss to Syracuse last week, the 9-1 Louisville Cardinals will be edged out by Rutgers and earn an at-large berth to the Orange Bowl- all they need to do is beat an inferior UConn team.

Rose Bowl

Nebraska Cornhuskers vs Oregon Ducks – With Oregon no longer in the BCS title game picture, they would likely represent the PAC 12 in the Rose Bowl.  Though, if Stanford beats UCLA, they could go to the Rose Bowl while Oregon heads to the Fiesta Bowl (over Clemson).  With Ohio State inelidgible, the Big 10 will likely be represented by Nebraska.

College Football Top 10 Games Week 9 (2012)

Okalhoma Sooners FootballAfter 8 weeks of college football in the books, the BCS picture is still up in the air as teams are jockeying for position.  While the top two teams are from the SEC (Alabama and Florida), three teams will be looking to make their case for the BCS title game this week (Oregon, Kansas State and Notre Dame).  In this week’s Game of the Week (GOTW), Notre Dame will have their shot to get a quality win with a road game against the #8 Oklahoma Sooners.  A win for Notre Dame and they could move up a couple of notches and put themselves in a great position to be consider for the National Championship game.  No matter who you are rooting for it should be a great defensive battle on Saturday.

Michigan will look to stay unbeaten in the Big 10 but will have to beat a tough Cornhuskers team on the Road.

There is no loved lost between these two North Carolina teams vying to become bowl eligible.

College Football Top 10 Games Week 7 (2012)

2012 Oklahoma vs Texas Football Game

The Tickifieds Week 7 GOTW features a huge Big 12 match-up between the Oklahoma Sooners and Texas Longhorns.

If you thought we had some great college football match-ups last week, you better brace yourself as this week is even better.  In the Week 7 Game of the Week (GOTW) we have the #13 Oklahoma Sooners facing the #15 Texas Longhorns.  It’s no secret that this is one of the biggest rivalries in college football.  However, this year the game is even bigger as both teams are in the running for the Big 12 title and a berth in a BCS Bowl game.

Another huge game this week features two of the top teams in the SEC, if not the country.  Ninth ranked LSU will look to rebound after a tough loss to the Florida Gators against the #3 South Carolina Gamecocks.  Last week the Gamecocks absolutely destroyed the #5 Georgia Bulldogs last week.  Baton Rouge will be rocking this weekend!

1.  #13 Oklahoma Sooners vs #15 Texas Longhorns

One of the best rivalries in college football…..enough said!

2.  #9 LSU Tigers vs #3 South Carolina Gamecocks

Huge game for these 2 SEC powerhouse programs.  A win for either will solidify their case for a shot at the BCS title game.  A loss and that chance is gone!

3. #7 Notre Dame Fighting Irish vs #17 Stanford Cardinal

Notre Dame has a chance to further pad their resume with a win over another nationally ranked team.  The question is would they sneak into the top 5?

4. #23 Louisiana Tech Bulldogs vs #22 Texas A&M Aggies

The undefeated LA Tech Bulldogs will look to add another notch in their belt. Do we have another Boise State program in the making?

5.  BYU Cougars vs #10 Oregon State Beavers

The undefeated K State Wildcats will have their hands full with the 4-1 ISU Cyclones in Ames, IA.  Could be a big upset in the making!

Though Alabama should have no problem defeating Mizzou, they come in at #8 just for being the #1 team in the country.

The 5-1 Duke Blue Devils have been a surprise in the ACC.  VA Tech will look to right the ship after 2 straight games to North Carolina and Cincinnati.

The Mountain West Conference lead is up for grabs as Fresno State will look for an upset of the 24th ranked BSU Broncos.

2012 Preseason Big 12 Football Rankings

Oklahoma Sooners Football

The Oklahoma Sooners are the preseason #1 team in the Big 12. Will they be able to hold off WVU and the Texas Longhorns?

The Big 12 Conference narrowly avoided a complete collapse following the 2011-12 football season as rumors quickly spread of schools changing affiliations.  Big 12 football as we know it would have been devasted had tradional powerhouse football programs like the Texas Longhorns or the Oklahoma Sooners had bolted for greener pastures as many had feared.  Fortunately for Big 12 fans both decided to stay.   However, that is not to say the conference has not undergone some major changes since last season.  The Texas A&M Aggies and Missouri Tigers both bolted for the SEC amid rumors of the conference folding.  While those programs leaving certainly hurt the national competitiveness of  the conference, two new school will hope to fill the void.  The West Virginia Mountaineers and the Texas-Christian University Horned Frogs will both join the Big 12 this season and both are expected to make an immediate impact.

So how will the new-look Big 12 shape up in 2012-13?  Well, below we will break down and rank each of football teams in the Big 12.

2012 Big 12 Football Rankings

 1.Oklahoma Sooners

The Oklahoma Sooners were the preseason #1 team in the country last season.  However, injuries plagued the team and they fell short of their lofty expectations.  The Sooners should be a much stronger and deeper team this year as many underclassmen should benefit from being thrust into action ahead of schedule last season.  Oklahoma will return a strong core of players that include quarterback Landry Jones , running back Dom Whaley, defensive tackle Jamarkus McFarland, corner back Javon Harris, and safetly Demontre Hurst.

2.West Virginia Mountaineers

It is a bit of a mystery as to how WVU will fare in the Big 12 especially considering the Run-and-Shoot spread offense run by coach Dana Holgorsen.  However, its hard to see the Mountaineers struggle much on offense with QB Geno Smith and wide recievers Tavon Austin and Stedmon Bailey all returning.  If their defense can improve they have an outside shot of challenging OU for the Big 12 Championship.

3.Texas Longhorns

The Longhorns have certainly had a rough couple of years.  However, the Texas defense appears to be back in full force (#1 in the Big 12 last season) and should keep them in every game.  The running game should also be strong with Malcolm Brown, Joe Bergeron, and freshman Jonathan Gray carrying the load.  The big question is at quarterback.  If David Ash can become a legitimate threat in the passing game this team could compete for a Big 12 title.

4. Oklahoma State Cowboys

OK State had an amazing run last season but they have been somewhat depleted on offense with  Brandon Weeden, Justin Blackmon, and Josh Cooper  all gone.  With a ton of questions on offense and a pedestrian defense its hard to imagine they will be able to reload on the fly.  That said, they are still talented and deep and should be competitive.

5.TCU Horned Frogs

TCU is coming off a disappointing season in a weak conference.  It’s hard to imagine things will get any easier for them in their first season in the Big 12.  However, the TCU defense should be very good and could compete with the longhorns for the top squad.  If they can keep their players out of trouble (ahheem drug dealing) they could sneak past OK State.

6.Kansas State Wildcats

K State is pretty average across the board but they do play sound fundamental football.  Throw in the fact that Collin Klein will be returning with his core running backs and wide receivers and the Wildcats could surprise some people.

7.Baylor Bears

The Baylor offense will be severely depleted after losing 9 starters (most notably Robert Griffin III).  Throw in the fact that there defense was pretty terrible and the Bears likely have little chance at having a successful season.  They do have some talent coming in so if things pan out they could finish at .500 or so.

8.Iowa State Cyclones

Iowa State always seems plagued by inconsistency.  They will play great one week only to live up to low expectations the next.  ISU has a nice pair of quarterbacks with  Steele Jantz and Jared Barnett returning but they will be hard pressed to find wins if a decent wide receiver fails to emerge.

9.Texas Tech Red Raiders

The Red Raiders appear to be in rebuilding mode as they look to establish an offensive identity all while rolling out an entirely new defensive scheme.  They do have some talent but  it is unknown how the team will gel following all these changes.  If things turn out well they could be a huge sleeper but don’t bank on it.

10.Kansas Jayhawks

Charlie Weis will be taking over as head coach but he won’t have much to work with in his first season.  It will likely take a few years before Weis can field a respectable team in Lexington but expect them to show improvement as the season progresses.

No matter who wins the Big 12 in 2012-13, it should be another exciting season.  There is not much better than taking in a Big 12 college football game.  If you are looking for tickets for any of these matchups be sure to check out our Big 12 Football Classifieds!

2012 Pre-season College Football Rankings

2012 College Football RankingsJune is typically one of the slowest months of the year for ticket sales.  Sure the summer concert season is just starting to heat up but demand is waning for sports tickets.  This is largely due to the fact that the NBA and NHL playoffs are winding down and MLB baseball is only a hot ticket later in the season when the pennant chase really heats up.  The real ticket frenzy starts in the fall as both NCAA and NFL football tickets begin to go on sale.

With the college football season just a little over two months away, it’s never to early to start marketing football tickets.  In today’s blog post we have prepared a list of the some of the top teams in the nation heading into the 2012-13 college football season.  These are the teams that are expected to compete for a national championship and thus should garner their fair share of attention come time to sell tickets.

2012 Pre-season Top 10 College Football Team

1.  LSU Tigers

The LSU Tigers finished off an impressive 2011 campaign losing in the BCS Championship game to the SEC rival Alabama Crimson Tide.  Although the Tigers lost of ton of talent to the NFL draft, another bumper crop of recruits should fill in all the holes.  The addition of a JUCO transfer QB, the Tigers should have a more balanced offensive attack that was lacking in the Championship game.  A rather easy non-conference schedule should set up another matchup with Bama in the SEC title game.

2.  Alabama Crimson Tide

Like LSU, last year’s national champions got pillaged in the NFL draft.  Head Coach Nick Saban will have to completely rebuild the defense so some bumps are expected down the road.  However, they have plenty of talent and depth waiting to fill the void.  Should be neck and neck with LSU.

3.  USC Trojans

The USC Trojans finished last year with an impressive 10-2 record and should be even better this year with 19 starters returning.  All eyes will be on QB Matt Barkley as an undefeated season is not out of the question with the only tough games being against Stanford and Oregon.

4.  Oregon Ducks

The Oregon Ducks have a lot of questions marks but they are depth and talented.  The big questions will be can tailbacks Kenjon Barner and De’Anthony Thomas effectively replace LaMichael James.  Will Bryan Bennett and Marcus Mariota or emerge as a legitmate QB?  If so the Ducks could be right in the mix for a shot at a national title.

5.  Georgia Bulldogs

Georgia is certainly an upcoming team with plenty of questions but they have a stellar defense and a cake of a schedule.  Even though they play in the tough SEC they will not have to face Alabama, LSU, Arkansas, or Texas A&M.

6.  Oklahoma Sooners

The Sooners are clearly the class of the Big 12.  The addition of TCU and West Virginia should help compensate for the loss of Texas A&M and a down Texas Longhorns program.

7.  West Virginia Mountaineers

WVU made a bold move by heading to the Big 12 and it could benefit them greatly to be in a league where offenses tend to prevail.  The Mountaineers offense should thrive as they are returning star QB Geno Smith and wideouts Stedman Bailey and Tavon Austin.

8. Florida State Seminoles

Many were high on FSU coming into last season but injuries contributed to another disappointing season.  If Florida State can stay healthy and the defense improves, they should be right in the mix for a BCS Bowl game.

9.  Michigan Wolverines

The Wolverines are one of the most exciting teams to watch in all of college football.  QB Denard Robinson will be back with 13 starters and are the favorites to emerge from the Big

10. South Carolina Gamecocks

Head coach Steve Spurrier has really turned around the South Carolina football program quickly.  After winning a SEC East title in 2010 and producing 11 wins last year, what is next?  A SEC title!  It may be a little too early for them to take out LSU and Alabama but don’t put anything past the Gamecocks.

Other teams to watch for:  Michigan State, Stanford, Arkansas, TCU, and Wisconsin
