Tickifieds Top 10 Weekly Searches – One Direction #1 Four Weeks in a Row

One Direction is this weeks top eventAnother week goes by and One Direction is still (by far) the most search for ticket on Tickifieds.com.  For 4 weeks in a row now, the boy band has absolutely dominated the search results.  In fact, two ads for One Direction meet and greet passes for shows in Universal City California and Woodlands Texas has eclipsed over 15,000 views!

Outside of 1D, country music is starting to come on really strong this week as Sugarland, Toby Keith, and the Zac Brown Band all make the top 10.  Perhaps most surprising is the fact that pop icon Justin Bieber had completely fallen off the top 10 this week.  Is “Bieber Fever” over?

1.  One Direction

I think you get the point by now…1 D is huge.

2.  Sugarland

Country music superstars Sugarland make the top 10 for their first time.  Sugarland will be kicking their “In Your Hands” 2012 tour into high gear with shows in Tinley Park, Harrington, Bristow, Tampa, and West Palm Beach coming up.

3.  Governors ball

The 2012 Governors Ball includes top acts like Modest Mouse, Beck, Passion Pit, Kid Cudi, Fiona Apple, Cage the Elephant, and many more.  It’s no wonder tickets to this 2 day music festival are in big demand!

4.  Kaskade

Popular DJ Kaskade has a packed schedule in June and July driving an impressive potential ticket buyers.  Kaskade will be playing sold out shows in MichiganMassachusetts, Florida, Georgia, Colorado, North Carolina, and just about every other state in-between.

5.  2012 NBA Finals

The Miami Heat and OKC Thunder are in a battle for the 2012 NBA Championship.  The Heat are currently up 2 games to 1 but the series is far from over.  Games 4 and 5 will be in Miami while games 6 and 7 will be in Oklahoma City (if necessary).

6.  Real Madrid

With EURO 2012 going strong, soccer fans in the US are clamoring for international soccer.  Real Madrid moves up 1 spot this week with the strongest interest in their match against AC Milan at Yankee Stadium.

7.  Rush

Classic rockers Rush appear in the top 10 for the first time following the announcement of additional dates for their 2012 Clockwork Angels Tour.  Rush will hit all the major cities this fall.

8.  The Wanted

Another boy band poise for a major breakthrough.  The Wanted will be playing some select shows this summer including the Summer Mixtape Festival, the B96 Summerbash, and a solo show at the Mohegan Sun.

9.  Toby Keith

Country good time guy Toby Keith is having a great 2012.  His hit song “Red Solo Cup” has propelled his career into the mainstream as college kids across the nation have discovered his good time music.

10.  Zac Brown Band

If there ever was an official summer time fun band, the Zac Brown Band would have to be in the discussion.  Tickets to their concert at Milwaukee’s Summerfest on July 5th are of particular interest to many fans right now.

This top 10 list is compiled from internal search data from Tickifieds.com and organic traffic from search engines.  Search terms are ranked by using a combination of both sources of search data.

2011 Concert Tickets Sales Rebound

U2 still the top concert in town!

U2 is still the king as they top the list of 2011 Concerts with $85.8 million in gross revenue.

According to the Pollstar Mid Year Business Analysis, 2011 concert ticket sales are well ahead of the 2010 pace.  The top 100 North American tours have grossed 1.2 billion dollars thus far-  a 157 million more than the previous year (16.2%).  The jump in revenue can be largely attributed to a substantial increase in average ticket price.  In the first half of 2011, the average ticket price increased by $6.25 (or 10.2%).  Although the increasing price of tickets certainly influenced the bottom-line, more tickets were also sold in 2011.  This year 16.7 million tickets have been sold in comparison to the 15.9 million in 2010- an increase of 5.3%. All in all, this data suggests that the demand for concert tickets has rebounded from a very sluggish 2010.

Not surprising, U2 was the highest grossing North American tour in the first half of 2011.  Through 6/30/2011, U2 has sold nearly 1 million tickets with an average price of almost $88 each.  Their 11 city /14 show tour has netted  $85.8 million or an average of $7.8 million per show.

Coming in a distant #2 is Lady Gaga whose 38 city / 40 show tour sold 674,795 tickets with an average ticket price of a whopping $96.77 (gross $65.3 Mil).  Rounding out the top 5 are Bon Jovi ($57.4 mil), Kenny Chesney ($46.7 mil), and Luis Miguel ($33.9 mil).  Young country music star Taylor Swift came in at #6 with a gross of $29.5 million just ahead of Elton John ($28.0 mil), Lil Wayne ($26.3 mil), Celine Dion (23.9 mil), and Rod Stewart & Stevie Nicks ($22.2 mil).

Many other acts did not make the top 10 in total gross revenue but had extremely high average grosses.  These acts will likely produce solid numbers in the second half of 2011.  These performers include:  Marco Antonio Solis ($1.1 mil per show), Mana ($2.5 mil per show), Shakira ($1.4 mil per show), Eric Clapton ($1.1 mil per show), Chayenne ($1.2 mil per show), Phish ($1.0 mil per show), George Strait with Reba & Lee Ann Womack ($1.0 mil per show), and Price ($1.1 mil per show).

Other high grossing performer include:  Bob Seger and The Silver Bullet Band, Rush, Iron Maiden, Britney Spears, Katy Perry, Rammstein, Enrique Iglesias, Rihanna, Jimmy Buffet, Janet Jackson, and New Kids on the Block / Backstreet Boys.  Look for these acts to be some of the most popular events this summer and fall.

Top Events this Weekend April 8 – 10

MLBHello Wednesday!  I’m thrilled to see you.

So, what’s going on in the ticketing world now that the 2011 Mens NCAA Basketball Tournament is over?  If you’re living under a rock, UConn swept the Bulldogs in a rather upsetting fashion.

But, the end of NCAA basketball means the start of baseball, the end of NBA basketball and the spring/summer concert season.  Friday seems to be particularly popular this weekend for events.

Of course opening days for baseball are hot commodities.  The first day of baseball to many people is like New Year’s Day.  Anything is possible.  A totally fresh start.   The White Sox are starting off with a slightly rocky start designated hitter Adam Dunn being taken to the hospital on Tuesday night.  He underwent an emergency appendectomy Tuesday night and will miss at least five games.  Apparently Dunn felt discomfort during Kansas City’s 7-6, 12-inning victory Tuesday.

Neighborly rivals, the Knicks vs. Nets face off on Friday night in New Jersey.  Honestly, this shouldn’t be too much of a game, but the two teams are close in distance.

As for your concert seen, notice the heavy guitar, jam-bandy type sound that is prevalent in the list below.  Kenny Chesney, Rush, Widespread Panic and Stevie Nicks all invoke feelings of summer and carefreeness.   Keep an eye open for festivals and tours such as Coachella and Bonnaroo.

Also, while tickets are usually fairly cheap for AMA Supercross events, do discount them as being unwanted tickets.  Motor bike racing has a surprisingly big following.

So get out there are sell some tickets!

Romantic Valentine’s Day Performers

So, it’s Valentine’s Day.  Let’s celebrate the day with yet another list.  Who doesn’t love a good list?  My criteria for my lists are that they must be living AND performing now (hey, it’s my list, I can make whatever criteria I want).  I’m going to make two very distinctive lists.  The first list, being the top (in my opinion) romantic and heartwarming singers.  The other list, is for those of you celebrating “singles awareness day” and there for is hard, dark and heavy.  The lists are in no particular order.

 Top 10 romantic singers/performers  touring:

1.)    Celine Dion – Of course she’s on this list.  Every time you think about a large ship, you probably have “My Heart Will Go On” on repeat inside your head.  Luckily for everyone, she’s still on tour in Vegas.

2.)    Taylor Swift – So sure, sweet and good.  She’s every guys dream girl and every girl’s best friend.  She understands the female angst and sings all about it, but manages to make it sound sweet.

3.)    Bryan Adams – How many great love songs did this guy do?  His two most popular were probably “Have you Ever Really Loved a Woman” and “(Everything I do) I do it for you”.

4.)    Barry Manilow – Mr. Romantic songs himself!   With songs like “Mandy”, “Can’t Smile Without You”, and “Could it Be Magic?” he’s an obvious choice for this list.

5.)    Rod Stewart – With his career in its fifth decade, Mr. Stewart has been exceptionally popular with the ladies ever since.  Hehas sold over 100 million records worldwide, making him one of the bestselling artists of all time.  He’s touring with another romantic artist, Ms. Stevie Nicks.

6.)    Enrique Iglesias- Yum.  Regardless of the fact that he makes good music or not, he is exceptionally attractive.  His latest album with his Latin styling is sure to woo the ladies once again.

7.)    Justin Bieber – Ah, the Bieb.  That hair!  That smile!  The ‘tweeners  just love him, and the rest of the world does too for that matter.

8.)    Harry Connick, Jr.  – He acts, he sings, he composes.  He has enough personality to fill an entire auditorium.  He makes the ladies swoon.  Gentlemen, you should take note of this man.

9.)    Rascal Flatts – Their country songs nearly all explode with love and affection for their family and friends.  You can’t listen to any of their songs and not have warm fuzzies.  They also Thave raised and donated millions of dollars to the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt.  How can you not love that?

10.) Rush – They’re just REALLY good.  I can’t think of one guy I know that doesn’t have a “man crush” on them.

Top 10 least romantic singers/performers touring:

1.)    Apocalyptica– Yea, heavy, rock grunge music doesn’t exactly convey that loving feeling.

2.)    Lil’ Wayne – Maybe it’s just me, but I find all his tattoos to be especially offputting.  Or maybe it’s the grill….

3.)    Kid Rock – Granted, he might be slowly turning the corner from his former darker, drug and booze filled rap days, but he’s still not universally appealing on a first date.

4.)    Lewis Black – I’m surprised that man hasn’t had a heart attack yet!  He is a ball of rage!  Avoid, avoid, avoid when you want a nice romantic evening.

5.)    Social Distortion – Don’t get me wrong, I love me some Social D, but punk and romance don’t go together unless you’re Avril Lavigne.

6.)    K$sha – Someone give that girl a bath!   Her club/techno music is not good for snuggling.

7.)    Widespread Panic –  Jam Band.  You’d sooner have an urge for some munchies before looking for love at one of WP’s shows.

8.)    Dispatch – Hard Rock =/= Romance.  Sorry, it’s true.

9.)    Barney Live In Concert - Birthday Bash! – Giant Purple Dinosaur with a Baby Voice.  Need I say more?

10.) Trey Anastasio from Phish. – Pleas see description for WP.

What are some of your favorite romantic or polar opposite of romantic musicians/peformers??
