1 Direction Slides to #2 – Tickifieds Top 10

Pearl Jam 2013

Trending: Pearl Jam’s concert at Wrigley Field on July 19th, 2013 is one of the hottest tickets at Tickifieds.com.

It’s been a while since our last post and a lot has happen since then within the event ticket industry.  Perhaps most notable is the fact that we have a new top event here at the Tickifieds Top 10.  Surprise, surprise….it’s Super Bowl XLVII.  Between all the parties, hotel rooms, vip packages and actual game tickets, the Super Bowl has been responsible for a considerable amount of traffic since the participants were reveled.

Despite all of the hype surrounding the Super Bowl, it has also been a strong week for other sports events.  In particular, college basketball conference tournaments.  As Marsh Madness approaches expect heavy interest in college basketball. The Rodeos also made a strong showing – see the list below for more details.

Top Events Week 5, 2013

1.  Super Bowl XLVII

2.  One Direction

After weeks and weeks of being #1, 1D has finally dropped back to the pack.  Although One Direction events are still getting plenty of traffic, their grip atop our rankings is starting to slip.

3. Dixie National Rodeo

Although the biggest events happen in Texas, rodeo and country music fans will be flocking to Mississippi next week for the 2013 Dixie National Rodeo.  Playing this year will be Easton Corbin, Joe Nichols, Dustin Lynch, Loretta Lynn, Justin Moore, Kip Moore, and Gloriana!  The fun begins 2/7 and continues through 2/13/2013.

5. Big Ten Tournament

It’s been an incredible year for Big 10 basketball with Michigan, Indiana, Michigan State, and Ohio State all floating around the top 10.  This years festivities will take place at the United Center in Chicago from 3/14 to 3/17/2013.

6.  Mexico vs Peru

As we have mentioned on numerous occassions, international soccer matches hosted here in the US are really gaining in popularity.  This exhibition between Mexico and Peru will be played at Candlestick Park in San Francisco on 4/17/2013.

7.  Pearl Jam

One of the biggest concert announcements to happen in the new year was when Eddie Vedder confirmed rumors that Pearl Jam would be playing historic Wrigley Field in Chicago on July 19th, 2013.  Pearl Jam will also be playing a special show at the Budweiser Gardens in London, Ontario.

8. Houston Rodeo

The Houston Rodeo slipped a few spots this week but demand is still high for this annual event at Reliant Stadium.  The 2013 Houston Rodeo is sure to be special with an all star lineup that includes Toby Keith, Alan Jackson, Zac Brown, Bruno Mars, Jason Aldean, Kenny Chesney, Tim McGraw, and so many more!

9. Big 12 Basketball Tournament

Although football is king in the Big 12, ticket demand for the 2013 basketball tournament remains strong.  Like most years, the Kansas Jayhawks are heavy favorites to win the conference tournament.

10.  San Antonio Rodeo

The first of the highly anticipated rodeos is about to kick off.  The 2013 San Antonio Rodeo starts on Thursday February 7th with a special concert by Clay Walker and runs through Saturday February 23rd, 2013.  Hot acts include Thompson Square, Lee Brice, OneRepublic, and Lady Antebellum.

The Houston Rodeo falls 1 spot this week but it really isn’t due to any loss of popularity but rather a surge in activity for the Super Bowl.  With the Rodeo only a month away, expect sales to continue to be strong.  For the full HLSR lineup and details check out our previous blog post:  2013 Houston Rodeo Schedule and Lineup!

Top Ticket Search Queries 2/23/2012

If you are involved in search engine optimization (SEO) you are probably well aware that Google no longer passes on search query data for users that are logged into their Google accounts.  With these recent changes it is becoming more and more important to analyze search data where ever you can obtain it.  Unless your website gets substantial search engine traffic it can be difficult to gather meaningful search engine data when anywhere from 40-60% of searches have no keyword data associated with it.  Fortunately, since Tickifieds gets thousands of unique visitors each day from search engines (primarily Google), we still get useful referral data even with a loss of roughly half of the data.  So, if you are an event ticket marketing guru you will want to check out or blog regularly as we will try and keep you informed on event ticket search trends.

In this new regular feature we combine search terms from major referring search engines like Google, Yahoo, Bing, AOL, Ask, Alta Vista, and Lycos with our native search to come up with the top 20 most searched performers and/or events.  Long-tailed keywords (which often include date, location, venue) are aggregated by performer where applicable.  As you can see from the list below, the most  searched for tickets typically involve performers with recent on sale events or events happening in the immediate future.

Tops in today’s search are the alternative rockers Chevelle.  The band from Grayslake Illinois is currently wrapping up their winter 2012 tour with sold out shows in Portland (Maine), New York, Atlantic City, Baltimore, Norfolk, Indianapolis, and Oklahoma City.

Top Weekend Events 2/18 – 2/20

It’s Wednesday, it’s Wednesday!  It’s time to find out the most popular events happening this weekend!

This Wednesday’s list is heavy on the music, which is a large departure from Wednesday’s past.  The type of music runs the gamut from country to class rock to pop.  The always intriguing Lady Gaga finally makes her first appearance on the list with her show in New Jersey, her homestate.  By the way, did you see her costume at the Grammys??  What the heck was up with her egg outfit?  I’m sure her outfits will not disappoint at this event either.

Kid Rock has had so much success in every genre of music so far.  He really is a “Horse of a Different Color.”  He goes seamlessly from rock to rap to country to even a little (dare I say?) easy listening.  What should not be expected is a boring show.  The man knows how to perform.

The San Antonio Rodeo had a most impressive line-up of events, 2 of which are showing up on our Wednesday list.  Country stars Josh Turner and Martina McBride are coveted performances to attend and also the last two music events at the SAR.    Some of the other’s that previously performed were  Miranda Lambert, Styx, Clay Walker, Train, Reba McEntire, Bill Engvall, Toby Keith and Lady Antebellum.

Perennial rock favorite, John Mellencamp also makes an appearance on the list with his New York Show at the Radio City Music Hall.  His latest album, No Better Than This, was released on August 17th, 2010 and has been greeted with substantial approval.

Hockey is one of the biggest sports still in regular season at the moment and thus is drawing a lot of attention.  The Heritage Classic taking place in Calgary, Alberta will pit the Calgary Flames vs. the Montreal Canadiens, two extremely good Canadian teams.  This is going to be quite the event!

The NBA Allstars game also takes place this weekend.  This event matches the best players in the Eastern Conference against the best players in the Western Conference.  The coaches are selected  by looking at which current teams have the most wins in their conference through the Sunday 2-weeks prior the All-Star game.  Some notable players will include Dwayne Wade, Kevin Garnett, Deron Williams, Kevin Love, Derrick Rose and Kobe Bryant.

Two Big 10 teams face on the 19th, OSU vs. Purdue in Indiana.

And the Daytona 500 reigns supreme over the Wednesday Weekend list once again with more exciting racing events!  Be sure to tune in!

1.)    2011 Daytona 500, Daytona International Speedway, FL 02/20/2011

2.)    NBA All Star Game,  Staples Center, Los Angeles, CA 2/20/2011
