Fleetwood Mac Announces 2013 Tour

fleetwood Mac 2013 tourRockers Fleetwood Mac will be back out on tour in 2013 following the re-release of their hit 1977 album, “Rumours”.  Rumours is Fleetwood Mac’s biggest commercial hit and produced hit singles like “Don’t Stop,” “Go Your Own Way” and “Dreams.”  The album has sold over 40 million copies world wide and is credited with launching the careers of not only the band, but also band members Mick Fleetwood, John McVie, Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham (What’s up with that?).  The new album is scheduled to be released on January 29th and will include live performances from their 1977 tour, unreleased outtakes from the recording sessions and a documentary of the band.  Hardcord Fleetwood Mac fans will also be please to know that copies of the album on 140-gram vinyl will also be available.

The 2013 Fleetwood Mac Tour will feature 34 shows from April to June 2013.  The tour will kick off in Columbus Ohio (4/4/2013) and will conclude in Detroit (6/12/2013).  If the 2013 tour is anything like their last in 2009, expect ticket demand to be strong- especially with the baby-boomers.  Although the tour will not begin until the Spring, tickets starting going on sale today.

Fleetwood Mac Will Tour in 2012

Fleetwood Mac is set to tour in 2012.

Drummer Mick Fleetwood has revealed that the legendary band featuring the phenomenal vocals of Stevie Nicks, will reunite for a huge tour in 2012.

Band guitarist Lindsey Buckingham previously claimed that a Fleetwood Mac reunion was likely although no official statement or solid plans were released. The band members are all eager to start touring again.

Speaking to the Alternative Press, Fleetwood revealed. “We’re going out next year. We’re all creatures of habit and we love what we do… Whatever has happened, we are together.”

The last time Fleetwood Mac treked across the globe was in 2009 with their ‘Unleashed’ tour. This tour will be in response to both Buckingham’s album as well as Stevie Nicks‘ “In Your Dreams,” which came out in May and features both Buckingham and Fleetwood. Buckingham says that “there’s been talk about doing another Fleetwood Mac album,” but Fleetwood feels it will unlikely happen prior to the tour.

No tour dates have been set yet, but Fleetwood said to Billboard, “We’re so disorganized as a band, I don’t know what to tell you. All we know is we’re working next year. I’ll get a phone call that we’re going to start rehearsing — usually in a blind panic because we leave everything (until) way too late. But we’re all up for touring in the early summer of next year, I think, and once we start we’re much like U2 and the (Rolling) Stones in terms of workload. We basically play until no one wants to book us anymore.”

The band really came together and enjoyed great popularity from 1975 to 1987, when they came out with more of a pop sound and featured the current line-up of Christine McVie, Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks. Fleetwood Mac’s second album after the incorporation of Nicks and Buckingham, 1977’s Rumours, created four U.S. Top 10 singles (including Nicks’ song “Dreams”, which was the band’s first and only U.S. number one) and remained in the top positiion on the American albums chart for 31 weeks, as well as reaching the number one spot in various countries around the world. As of this writing, the album has sold over 40 million copies worldwide, making it the ninth highest selling album of all time.

Stay tuned for tour Fleetwood Mac’s 2012 tour dates!

Top Weekend Events 8/12-14

The weekend is almost here, hooray!  It’s felt like a long week already.

The top half of the list is comprised of nationally recognized top acts.  Kid Rock has been absent from the top weekend event list for a while, but he’s finally making a comeback with a hometown concert.  Katy Perry holds the second spot on the list with her Teenage Dream tour.  Her most recent hit songs “Firework” and “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)” are still blazing on the airways and every talent show that’s on TV right now.  Seriously, her songs have been featured on America’s Got Talent, The Voice, So You Think You Can Dance (SYTYCD) and others all within the past few weeks.  Her song popularity rivals Lady Gaga.

Britney Spears’ Toronto show was pinged a number of times in this top weekend list.  This is a HOT concert.  Her Femme Fatale show is continuing to draw huge crowds.

Kenny Chesney and Zac Brown Band (ZBB) seem like they’re the official voices of summer with their great summer songs like “Knee Deep” and “Flip Flop Summer”.  They pretty much scream hanging out around a campfire, drinking beer and hanging out with your friends.

Some of the lesser known names to hit the list include country music artist Jamey Johnson.  He is also the supporting act for Kid Rock’s 2011 Born Free tour and accompanying Rock on a duet or more most of the time.  His most popular song “In Color” peaked at #9 on the Country Music Charts in 2009.   Alison Krauss is a blue-grass-country singer, songwriter and fiddler. She’s currently working on an album with Robert Plant.  She’s been in the music business a long time and has been collecting accolades ever since.

As proof of the increasing popularity of Major League Soccer in the United States, The Columbus Crew makes their first appearance on the list.  The Crew is one of ten charter clubs of MLS, having competed in the league since its inception in 1994.  They have won five major trophies; MLS Cup 2008, the 2004, 2008 and 2009 Supporters’ Shields, and the 2002 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup

Overall, this should be a very interesting weekend.  Enjoy!

2011 Concert Tickets Sales Rebound

U2 still the top concert in town!

U2 is still the king as they top the list of 2011 Concerts with $85.8 million in gross revenue.

According to the Pollstar Mid Year Business Analysis, 2011 concert ticket sales are well ahead of the 2010 pace.  The top 100 North American tours have grossed 1.2 billion dollars thus far-  a 157 million more than the previous year (16.2%).  The jump in revenue can be largely attributed to a substantial increase in average ticket price.  In the first half of 2011, the average ticket price increased by $6.25 (or 10.2%).  Although the increasing price of tickets certainly influenced the bottom-line, more tickets were also sold in 2011.  This year 16.7 million tickets have been sold in comparison to the 15.9 million in 2010- an increase of 5.3%. All in all, this data suggests that the demand for concert tickets has rebounded from a very sluggish 2010.

Not surprising, U2 was the highest grossing North American tour in the first half of 2011.  Through 6/30/2011, U2 has sold nearly 1 million tickets with an average price of almost $88 each.  Their 11 city /14 show tour has netted  $85.8 million or an average of $7.8 million per show.

Coming in a distant #2 is Lady Gaga whose 38 city / 40 show tour sold 674,795 tickets with an average ticket price of a whopping $96.77 (gross $65.3 Mil).  Rounding out the top 5 are Bon Jovi ($57.4 mil), Kenny Chesney ($46.7 mil), and Luis Miguel ($33.9 mil).  Young country music star Taylor Swift came in at #6 with a gross of $29.5 million just ahead of Elton John ($28.0 mil), Lil Wayne ($26.3 mil), Celine Dion (23.9 mil), and Rod Stewart & Stevie Nicks ($22.2 mil).

Many other acts did not make the top 10 in total gross revenue but had extremely high average grosses.  These acts will likely produce solid numbers in the second half of 2011.  These performers include:  Marco Antonio Solis ($1.1 mil per show), Mana ($2.5 mil per show), Shakira ($1.4 mil per show), Eric Clapton ($1.1 mil per show), Chayenne ($1.2 mil per show), Phish ($1.0 mil per show), George Strait with Reba & Lee Ann Womack ($1.0 mil per show), and Price ($1.1 mil per show).

Other high grossing performer include:  Bob Seger and The Silver Bullet Band, Rush, Iron Maiden, Britney Spears, Katy Perry, Rammstein, Enrique Iglesias, Rihanna, Jimmy Buffet, Janet Jackson, and New Kids on the Block / Backstreet Boys.  Look for these acts to be some of the most popular events this summer and fall.

Top Events this Weekend April 8 – 10

MLBHello Wednesday!  I’m thrilled to see you.

So, what’s going on in the ticketing world now that the 2011 Mens NCAA Basketball Tournament is over?  If you’re living under a rock, UConn swept the Bulldogs in a rather upsetting fashion.

But, the end of NCAA basketball means the start of baseball, the end of NBA basketball and the spring/summer concert season.  Friday seems to be particularly popular this weekend for events.

Of course opening days for baseball are hot commodities.  The first day of baseball to many people is like New Year’s Day.  Anything is possible.  A totally fresh start.   The White Sox are starting off with a slightly rocky start designated hitter Adam Dunn being taken to the hospital on Tuesday night.  He underwent an emergency appendectomy Tuesday night and will miss at least five games.  Apparently Dunn felt discomfort during Kansas City’s 7-6, 12-inning victory Tuesday.

Neighborly rivals, the Knicks vs. Nets face off on Friday night in New Jersey.  Honestly, this shouldn’t be too much of a game, but the two teams are close in distance.

As for your concert seen, notice the heavy guitar, jam-bandy type sound that is prevalent in the list below.  Kenny Chesney, Rush, Widespread Panic and Stevie Nicks all invoke feelings of summer and carefreeness.   Keep an eye open for festivals and tours such as Coachella and Bonnaroo.

Also, while tickets are usually fairly cheap for AMA Supercross events, do discount them as being unwanted tickets.  Motor bike racing has a surprisingly big following.

So get out there are sell some tickets!

1.)    Chicago White Sox Home Opener , US Cellular Field, Chicago, IL  – 04/08/2011
