Pop Icons 1D, Swift, and Bieber Reign Supreme – Tickifieds Top 10

Justin Bieber 2013 Believe TourWith Christmas less than 2 weeks away, it is clear that pop concert tickets are one of the most coveted gifts on this years shopping lists.  This week One Direction remains in the top spot with both Taylor Swift and Justin Bieber gain significant ground.  Both artists have several concerts going on sale in the next few days that have raised the level of interest significantly.   Although, only 1 bowl game was able to crack the top 5 this week (Heart of Dallas Bowl), 6 of the top 10 were college sporting events.

Top 10 Weekly Event Ticket Searches (12/6 – 12/13/2012)

1.  One Direction

The former X-Factor stars are everywhere these days…from Pepsi commercials with Drew Brees to late night TV.  Tickets for One Direction‘s 2013 shows are in huge demand meaning there will be many disappointed tweeners come Christmas morning!

2.  Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift continues her strong showing improving 1 spot this week to land in at #2.  The pop-country sensation has several shows set to go on sale tomorrow (12/14/2012) including shows in Raleigh, Louisville, and Lexington.

3.  Justin Bieber

Justin Bieber surges this week after he announced the 2nd leg of his 2013 Believe Tour (not to mention his appearance on the Victoria Secret Fashion show).  Tickets begin to go on sale on Friday December 14th and fans are already scouting the market for tickets.  Much like 1D, VIP and meet and greet passes will be in big demand!

4.  Heart of Dallas Bowl

Not what you would expect as the highest ranked bowl game this week but Oklahoma State and Purdue are representing well on the ticket front for the Heart of Dallas Bowl.

5.  Louisville Basketball

The 6th ranked Louisville Cardinals has impressed so far this year despite losing earlier in the year to the #2 Duke Blue Devils.  They have big games against Memphis (12/14/2012) and Kentucky (12/29/2012) coming up that are popular at the moment.

6.  BCS Championship

Not surprising…the biggest game in college football once again makes the list.  The 2013 BCS Championship should be a huge seller with tickets selling at record prices.  Both Notre Dame and Alabama have tons of fans willing to travel and shell out big bucks to see history being made.

7.  Rose Bowl

The Rose Bowl is always one of the most popular events every year.  With the Stanford Cardinal set to take on the Wisconsin Badgers you can expect more of the same for this annual New Year’s Day tradition!

8.  Sun Bowl

Another college football game garnering attention this week is the Sun Bowl.  This year’s edition will feature the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets of the ACC vs USC Trojans of the PAC 12.

9.  Fleetwood Mac

The legendary rockers Fleetwood Mac recently announced they will be touring in 2013.  Ticket interest is already high with shows in San Jose, Washington, Boston and Atlanta seemingly on the Christmas list for many.

10.  Cotton Bowl Classic

While they no longer play the game at the actual stadium of the same name, the 2012 Cotton Bowl Classic should be a classic indeed.  The Cotton Bowl will include the Texas A&M Aggies and the Oklahoma Sooners and will be played at Dallas Cowboys Stadium in Arlington.

2012 BCS Championship

Although the BCS Championship Series Bowl games are the most anticipated, several other bowls also garner much attention.

Some of the most highly anticipated sporting events in the world are the annual college football bowl games.  Each year, top college football teams across the season participate in these post-season bowl games that play a large part in determine the final rankings.  The biggest of which is the BCS National Championship game.  The BCS Championship game will be held at the Superdome in New Orleans on Jaunary 9th, 2012 and will feature the number 1 and numer 2 ranked teams in the nation.  The winner of each of the BCS conferences will appear in their respective BCS Bowl game (unless the champion earns a berth in the BCS title game).  The winner of the ACC will go to the Orange Bowl, Big 10 to the Rose Bowl, Big 12 to the Fiesta Bowl, Pac-12 to the Rose Bowl, and the SEC to the Sugar Bowl.

Although the Bowl Championship Series games are often the biggest draws, several other bowl games are immensely popular and offer alumni and college football fans alike a chance to travel to a warm destination to root for their favorite team.  Some of the most popular bowl games include the Capital One Bowl, Champs Sports Bowl, Chick-fil-A Bowl, Cotton Bowl, Outback Bowl, and the Pinstripe Bowl (held at Yankee Stadium).

Top 10 College Football Bowl Games 2009-2010

Today is college football’s Championship Saturday and football fans around the nation will be eagerly awaiting the outcomes of the Big 12 and SEC Championship games .  The action that takes place on the field today will determine which teams are going to the BCS National Championship game and what teams end up going to the BCS Championship game will influence who will be invited to all the other major bowl games.
