College Football Top 10 Games Week 11 (2012)

alabama-football

Alabama will look to stay unbeaten against the #15 Texas A&M Aggies this week. A win and they are pretty much a lock to make the 2013 BCS Championship game.

After another week of college football, just 4 unbeaten (significant) teams remain.  Alabama, Kansas State, Oregon, and Notre Dame are all still trying to make their case that they deserve a shot at the BCS National Championship game.  The #9 Louisville Cardinals are also undefeated but it is highly unlikely they could significantly move up in the BCS standings with just 1 game against a ranked opponent (Rutger on 11/29).  That means it’s all going to come down to who can run out the table and who can make the best case.  No room for error from here on out.

College Football Top 10 Games Week 11 (2012)

1.  #1 Alabama Crimson Tide vs #15 Texas A&M Aggies

Alabama will have it’s last test of the regular season against the #15 TAMU.  After this game they just have Western Carolina and Auburn before heading on to the SEC Championship game.

2.  TCU Horned Frogs vs #2 Kansas State Wildcats

TCU will get their chance to knock out the #2 team in the nation in Fort Worth.

3.  #7 LSU Tigers vs #21 Mississippi State Bulldogs

This game would likely be the game of the week had LSU not lost to Alabama last week.  With 2 losses, LSU is virtually elimated from BCS contention.  Nonetheless, this should be a great game between 2 ranked teams.

4.  #14 Stanford Cardinal vs #11 Oregon State Beavers

This is a huge game that will have big ramifications for the PAC 12.  Both teams will be looking to keep pace with the Oregon Ducks in the North Division and further solidify their bowl bid.

5. #16 Nebraska Cornhuskers vs Penn State Nittany Lions

Nebraska has a big game this weekend against PSU.  They need to win to remain atop the Big 10 Legends Division Standings and stay in line for a trip to the Rose Bowl.

6.  Michigan Wolverines vs #24 Northwestern Wildcats

These two teams are fighting for position atop the Big 10 Legends division with Nebraska.  To the winner goes a chance at a Rose Bowl bid…..

7.  Boston College Eagles vs #4 Notre Dame Fighting Irish

The Boston College Eagles aren’t much this season but this is one of the best rivalries in college football.  BC fans would like nothing more than to ruin Notre Dame’s perfect season.

8.  #17 Texas Longhorns vs Iowa State Cyclones

The Longhorns will look to pick up their 8th win against a tough ISU team in Austin this weekend.  Texans love their college football!

9.   Viginia Tech Hokies vs #10 Florida State Seminoles

VA Tech is sitting at 4-5 and desperately needs a big win if they have any hope of making a decent bowl game this season.  FSU will be looking for another win with the hopes of cracking the top 10.

10.  Oklahoma State Cowboys vs. West Virginia Mountaineers

WVU has certainly fallen the past couple of weeks but they could become bowl bound with a win over OK State.

College Football Top 10 Games Week 8 (2012)

Florida Gators Football

The Gators are back in the BCS National Championship picture after Florida leap-frogged the South Carolina Gamecocks following their loss to LSU last week. The two will get a chance to go head to head in this week’s game of the week (GOTW).

Another crazy week of college football is in the books and now it’s time to look forward to the week 8 games that are trending on Tickifieds.com.  It comes as no surprise that this week’s top games are dominated by Big 12 and SEC games.  However, ACC football is certainly starting to garner some attention with 3 games in our top 10 this week.

With many teams on the cusp of becoming bowl eligible, games are becoming more and more important.    This is true not just for the top 25 teams (which frequently appear in our Top 10 lists) but also for non-ranked teams having strong seasons.  Teams like Arizona State, Northwestern, Nebraska, Duke, and North Carolina will be looking to build upon their winning ways.

College Football Top 10 Games Week 8 (2012)

1.  #2 Florida Gators vs #7 South Carolina Gamecocks

The Gators look to continue their unbeaten streak with a big win over 7th ranked South Carolina.  South Carolina lost a heart breaker last week to LSU.

WVU will look to rebound after getting destroyed by Texas Tech.  It won’t be easy against the 4th ranked K State Wildcats!

3.  #18 Texas A&M Aggies vs #6 LSU Tigers

Texas A&M’s stock has risen with the Gators (their only loss of the season).  A win for Texas A&M and you would have to consider them one of the top 10 teams in the nation (if not the Top 5).  LSU badly needs another win over a quality opponent to get back in the national championship discussion.

4.  #23 TCU Horned Frogs vs #17 Texas Tech Red Raiders

Two 5-1 teams will battle it out for the Big 12 supremacy.  Ticket for this game are in big demand as the 2 Texas school get ready for thier first Big 12 showdown!

A huge game between these two Big 10 teams.  With the conference down, a win could be the difference between a bid to the Rose Bowl.

7.  Duke Blue Devils vs North Carolina Tarheels

The Duke – North Carolina rivalry is always big but who woulda thunk that this game would actually mean something?  With both teams sitting at 5-2, the winner becomes bowl eligible.

8.  Miami Hurricanes vs #14 Florida State Seminoles

Another big in-state rivalry game… FSU should easily handle the ‘Canes but winning in Miami is never an easy task.

9.  Arizona State Sun Devils vs #3 Oregon Ducks

Although ASU is not ranked, they are sitting at 5-1 and present a tough match-up for the Ducks.  Tempe will be rocking for this game!

10.  #25 Texas Longhorns vs Baylor Bears

The Longhorns got destroyed last week by Oklahoma and will look to rebound against Baylor.  Texas will need to win convincingly to avoid dropping out of the top 25.

College Football Top 10 Games Week 7 (2012)

2012 Oklahoma vs Texas Football Game

The Tickifieds Week 7 GOTW features a huge Big 12 match-up between the Oklahoma Sooners and Texas Longhorns.

If you thought we had some great college football match-ups last week, you better brace yourself as this week is even better.  In the Week 7 Game of the Week (GOTW) we have the #13 Oklahoma Sooners facing the #15 Texas Longhorns.  It’s no secret that this is one of the biggest rivalries in college football.  However, this year the game is even bigger as both teams are in the running for the Big 12 title and a berth in a BCS Bowl game.

Another huge game this week features two of the top teams in the SEC, if not the country.  Ninth ranked LSU will look to rebound after a tough loss to the Florida Gators against the #3 South Carolina Gamecocks.  Last week the Gamecocks absolutely destroyed the #5 Georgia Bulldogs last week.  Baton Rouge will be rocking this weekend!

1.  #13 Oklahoma Sooners vs #15 Texas Longhorns

One of the best rivalries in college football…..enough said!

2.  #9 LSU Tigers vs #3 South Carolina Gamecocks

Huge game for these 2 SEC powerhouse programs.  A win for either will solidify their case for a shot at the BCS title game.  A loss and that chance is gone!

3. #7 Notre Dame Fighting Irish vs #17 Stanford Cardinal

Notre Dame has a chance to further pad their resume with a win over another nationally ranked team.  The question is would they sneak into the top 5?

4. #23 Louisiana Tech Bulldogs vs #22 Texas A&M Aggies

The undefeated LA Tech Bulldogs will look to add another notch in their belt. Do we have another Boise State program in the making?

5.  BYU Cougars vs #10 Oregon State Beavers

The surprising 10th ranked Beavers will have a tough test in Provo, UT.  BYU is undefeated at home and is 4-2 overall.  Watch out for an upset here!!

6.  Texas Tech Red Raiders vs #5 West Virginia Mountaineers

WVU will be tested against the 4-1 Texas Tech.  Tech only loss of the season came at the hands of #17 Oklahoma.  Should be a great game with a lot on the line!

7.  Iowa State Cyclones vs #6 Kansas State Wildcats

The undefeated K State Wildcats will have their hands full with the 4-1 ISU Cyclones in Ames, IA.  Could be a big upset in the making!

8.  Missouri Tigers vs #1 Alabama Crimson Tide

Though Alabama should have no problem defeating Mizzou, they come in at #8 just for being the #1 team in the country.

9.  Virginia Tech Hokies vs Duke Blue Devils

The 5-1 Duke Blue Devils have been a surprise in the ACC.  VA Tech will look to right the ship after 2 straight games to North Carolina and Cincinnati.

10.  #24 Boise State Broncos vs Fresno State Bulldogs

The Mountain West Conference lead is up for grabs as Fresno State will look for an upset of the 24th ranked BSU Broncos.

College Football Top 10 Games Week 6 (2012)

Georgia Bulldogs Football

The Georgia Bulldogs will host South Carolina in Tickifieds Game of the Week!

What a great weekend of college football.  In last weeks’ game of the week, we saw the WVU Mountaineers beat out the Baylor Bears 70-63 in the highest scoring Big 12 football game ever. Heisman Trophy candidate Geno Smith threw for an amazing 656 yards and 8 touchdowns.  Perhaps most impressive is that Smith had more touchdowns (8) than incompletions.

This week we have another great lineup of college football games.  In fact, there are five games that will feature two Top 25 ranked teams.  None of these is bigger than or week 6 game of the week between the South Carolina Gamecocks and Georgia Bulldogs. Even though the Bulldogs are ranked #5 and the Gamecocks sit at #6, there are still 2 other SEC currently ranked ahead of them (Alabama and LSU).  This is a must win game if either team has hope of earn a trip to a BCS Bowl.

So without further adieu, here are the best games this week to focus your ticket marketing efforts on.

College Football Top 10 Games Week 6 (2012)

Two of the best teams in the country will go head to head with a whole lot on the line!

2.  #12 Ohio State vs #21 Nebraska Cornhuskers

The Big 10 has not been impressive this year but2 of the better teams will meet head to head.

3.  #10 Florida Gators vs #4 LSU Tigers

The Gators are the forgotten team of the SEC.  A win over LSU and the Gators will return to National prominence.

4.  #11 Texas Longhorns vs #8 WVU Mountaineers

All the talk of the Big 12 thus far has been about Geno Smith and WVU.  Texas can leap frog the Mountaineers with a big win this weekend.

5.  #2 Oregon Ducks vs #23 Washington Huskies

The Washington Huskies have surprised quite a few already so Oregon will have no excuses if they under-estimate them.

6.   #15 Clemson Tigers vs Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets

While this should necessarily be a close game, this game features a pretty intense rivalry.  Fans always circle this game on the schedule.

7.  #9 Notre Dame Fighting Irish vs Miami Hurricanes

Notre Dame Football is back!! Irish fans always travel well are all reared up to head to Solider Field in Chicago to watch Notre Dame beat up on the Hurricanes.

8.  #7 Kansas State Wildcats  vs Kansas Jayhawks

Another game that should be close but college football fans in Kansas always show up for this annual game.

9.  Wisconsin Badgers vs Illinois Fighting Illlini

Both programs are down this year but that won’t stop Illinois fans in the Chicago area from heading up north to Madison.

10.  Cal Golden Bears vs #25 UCLA Bruins

Another in-state rivarly game.  This game is even more interesting as the Bruins are ranked in the top 25 for the first time in a long while.  Cal would like nothing more than to knock them down a peg.

2012 Preseason Big 12 Football Rankings

Oklahoma Sooners Football

The Oklahoma Sooners are the preseason #1 team in the Big 12. Will they be able to hold off WVU and the Texas Longhorns?

The Big 12 Conference narrowly avoided a complete collapse following the 2011-12 football season as rumors quickly spread of schools changing affiliations.  Big 12 football as we know it would have been devasted had tradional powerhouse football programs like the Texas Longhorns or the Oklahoma Sooners had bolted for greener pastures as many had feared.  Fortunately for Big 12 fans both decided to stay.   However, that is not to say the conference has not undergone some major changes since last season.  The Texas A&M Aggies and Missouri Tigers both bolted for the SEC amid rumors of the conference folding.  While those programs leaving certainly hurt the national competitiveness of  the conference, two new school will hope to fill the void.  The West Virginia Mountaineers and the Texas-Christian University Horned Frogs will both join the Big 12 this season and both are expected to make an immediate impact.

So how will the new-look Big 12 shape up in 2012-13?  Well, below we will break down and rank each of football teams in the Big 12.

2012 Big 12 Football Rankings

 1.Oklahoma Sooners

The Oklahoma Sooners were the preseason #1 team in the country last season.  However, injuries plagued the team and they fell short of their lofty expectations.  The Sooners should be a much stronger and deeper team this year as many underclassmen should benefit from being thrust into action ahead of schedule last season.  Oklahoma will return a strong core of players that include quarterback Landry Jones , running back Dom Whaley, defensive tackle Jamarkus McFarland, corner back Javon Harris, and safetly Demontre Hurst.

2.West Virginia Mountaineers

It is a bit of a mystery as to how WVU will fare in the Big 12 especially considering the Run-and-Shoot spread offense run by coach Dana Holgorsen.  However, its hard to see the Mountaineers struggle much on offense with QB Geno Smith and wide recievers Tavon Austin and Stedmon Bailey all returning.  If their defense can improve they have an outside shot of challenging OU for the Big 12 Championship.

3.Texas Longhorns

The Longhorns have certainly had a rough couple of years.  However, the Texas defense appears to be back in full force (#1 in the Big 12 last season) and should keep them in every game.  The running game should also be strong with Malcolm Brown, Joe Bergeron, and freshman Jonathan Gray carrying the load.  The big question is at quarterback.  If David Ash can become a legitimate threat in the passing game this team could compete for a Big 12 title.

4. Oklahoma State Cowboys

OK State had an amazing run last season but they have been somewhat depleted on offense with  Brandon Weeden, Justin Blackmon, and Josh Cooper  all gone.  With a ton of questions on offense and a pedestrian defense its hard to imagine they will be able to reload on the fly.  That said, they are still talented and deep and should be competitive.

5.TCU Horned Frogs

TCU is coming off a disappointing season in a weak conference.  It’s hard to imagine things will get any easier for them in their first season in the Big 12.  However, the TCU defense should be very good and could compete with the longhorns for the top squad.  If they can keep their players out of trouble (ahheem drug dealing) they could sneak past OK State.

6.Kansas State Wildcats

K State is pretty average across the board but they do play sound fundamental football.  Throw in the fact that Collin Klein will be returning with his core running backs and wide receivers and the Wildcats could surprise some people.

7.Baylor Bears

The Baylor offense will be severely depleted after losing 9 starters (most notably Robert Griffin III).  Throw in the fact that there defense was pretty terrible and the Bears likely have little chance at having a successful season.  They do have some talent coming in so if things pan out they could finish at .500 or so.

8.Iowa State Cyclones

Iowa State always seems plagued by inconsistency.  They will play great one week only to live up to low expectations the next.  ISU has a nice pair of quarterbacks with  Steele Jantz and Jared Barnett returning but they will be hard pressed to find wins if a decent wide receiver fails to emerge.

9.Texas Tech Red Raiders

The Red Raiders appear to be in rebuilding mode as they look to establish an offensive identity all while rolling out an entirely new defensive scheme.  They do have some talent but  it is unknown how the team will gel following all these changes.  If things turn out well they could be a huge sleeper but don’t bank on it.

10.Kansas Jayhawks

Charlie Weis will be taking over as head coach but he won’t have much to work with in his first season.  It will likely take a few years before Weis can field a respectable team in Lexington but expect them to show improvement as the season progresses.

No matter who wins the Big 12 in 2012-13, it should be another exciting season.  There is not much better than taking in a Big 12 college football game.  If you are looking for tickets for any of these matchups be sure to check out our Big 12 Football Classifieds!
