Top Events Week 3, 2012

miranda lambert concert ticketsIt’s Monday and that means it’s time to break down what is happening in the event ticket industry this week. Now that the College football season is over we are starting to see NBA, NHL, NFL, college basketball and even a few concerts sneak into the top 10 events this week (January 10th through January 16th, 2012).  We have quite a surprise this week as Miranda Lambert’s sold out concert in LaCrosse Wisconsin comes in at #1.  This is the country music vixen’s first appearance in our top 10 list.  However, country music events are no stranger to the list as Jason Aldean, Kenny Chesney, Brad Paisley, and Toby Keith are frequently listed.

Top Events 2012 Week 2 (1/10/2012 to 1/16/2012)

1. Miranda Lambert LaCrosse, WI 1/13/2012

Miranda Lambert’s 2012 “On Fire” tour is certainly, well…. on fire.  Country music is big in the northwoods of Wisconsin and Miranda Lambert is about as big as a country music star as there is today.

2. Boston Bruins vs Winnipeg Jets 1/10/2012

The defending Stanley Cup champions are picking up where they left off last season.  Bostonians love their hockey so it’s no wonder this game comes in at #2.

3. Boston Celtics vs Chicago Bulls 1/13/2012

Two of the best teams in the NBA Eastern conference will meet Friday night.  After some incredible triple overtime playoff games in the past, these teams are known to get a little physical – remember Rajon Rondo’s hissy fits?

4.  New England Patriots vs Denver Broncos AFC Divisional Playoffs 1/14/2012

Tebow mania is in fully swing after the Broncos stunning victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers.  This one has drama written all over it:  Tebow vs Brady (Round 2).

5.  Monster Jam Alamodome San Antonio, TX 1/15/2012

Who doesn’t love Monster Trucks?  Texans certainly do…

6. Rebelution Best Buy Theater in New York 1/13/2012

If you haven’t heard of Rebelution before your not alone.  However, this indie reggae band from Santa Monica is making waves with the college crowd and is certainly a band to watch in 2012.

7.  San Francisco 49ers vs New Orleans Saints NFC Divisional Playoffs 1/14/2012

The San Francisco 49ers had an impressive season and earn the #2 seed.  However, the New Orleans Saints are surging and are the odds-on favorite.  The 49ers haven’t been in the playoffs in a while so ticket demand is especially high.

8.  Celine Dion Caesar’s Palace Las Vegas, NV 1/15/2012

This one continues to be a mystery to me…I have no idea who would pay that much money to hear Celine Dion squeal.

9.  Rascal Flatts and Sara Evans Charleston, WV 1/12/2012

The Rascal Flatts are teaming up with Sara Evans for a sold out show in Charleston West Virginia.  Should be an incredible show!

10.  Duke Blue Devils vs Virginia Cavaliers Basketball Durham, NC 1/12/2012

The #8 ranked Duke Blue Devils have a big matchup against the #16 Virginia Cavaliers.  The Cavs are currently leading the ACC and Duke will need a big win.  Should be a rockin’ time at Cameron Indoor Stadium!

This top 10 list is compiled from data from our partner website Tickifieds.  Events are ranked by using a combination of page views, search queries, and unique visitors.

NFC and AFC Divisional Playoff Match-ups Set

broncos vs PatriotsThe NFL Wildcard Weekend is over and we have our matchups for both the NFC and AFC Divisional playoff games.  In the NFC the New Orleans Saints beat up on the Detroit Lions and will move on to San Francisco to face the 49ers.  The NY Giants of football also came up big and defeated the Atlanta Falcons.  The Giants will have the daunting task of playing Aaron Rodgers and the Packers at Lambeau Field in Green Bay Wisconsin.

In the AFC the Houston Texans looked impressive in their victory over the Cincinnati Bengals.  The Texans will go on to face the Ravens at MT Bank Stadium in Baltimore Maryland.  Perhaps the most exciting game this weekend was between the Denver Broncos and Pittsburgh Steelers.  This epic game went into overtime before Tim Tebow once again willed the Denver Broncos to victory.  The Broncos will move on to face the Patriots at Gillette Stadium in Boston Massachusetts.

Updated 2012 AFC Playoff Bracket

Sundays results are in and the AFC playoff bracket is now finalized.  The Denver Broncos are the AFC West Division Champions despite losing to the Kansas City Chiefs.  Tim Tebow and company secured their spot in the playoffs for the first time since 2005 as the Oakland Raiders fell to the San Diego Chargers.    The Broncos will face the Pittsburgh Steelers at Sports Authority Field at Mile High in one of the AFC Wildcard games next weekend.

The Cincinnati Bengals also limped into the playoffs after losing to the Baltimore Ravens.  All the Bengals needed was for either the Broncos or Raiders to lose- both of them did.  The Bengals will  be the #6 seed and will face the Houston Texans at Reliant Stadium next weekend.

Top Weekend Events 12/16/2011-12/18/2011

Tim Tebow vs Tom BradyIt’s Wednesday and that means it is time to take a look at the most popular events going on across the country this weekend.  With college football on a hiatus until the bowl games begin next week, NFL football is back to dominating the search results at Tickifieds.com.  Coming in at number 1 on the list is Tim Tebow’s Denver Broncos vs Tom Brady’s New England Patriots.  The ever polarizing Tim Tebow is 7-1 as a starter after he led yet another last minute comeback against the Chicago Bears.  The Broncos now have a 2 game lead over the Oakland Raiders (Denver owns the tie-breaker) in the AFC.  It seems as though Mr. Tebow has turned both fans and Bronco management into believers and ticket prices have absolutely sky-rocketed the past couple of weeks.

Coming in at #2 this week is the Monday Night matchup between two 10-3 teams, the San Francisco 49ers and Pittsburgh Steelers.  OK, so this game isn’t actually taking place this weekend but we thought it was important enough to include on this list as this game is shaping up to be a great one.  At #3, the 0-13 Indianapolis Colts will be looking to pick up their first win of the season against the Tennessee Titans.  While this game doesn’t sound all that exciting fans are gobbling up these very affordable tickets (under $15 a ticket).

The other NFL games on the list also have some nice story-lines generating heavy fan interest.  In Oakland, the Raiders and Lions will face off both badly needing a win to stay in the playoff hunt.  In Kansas City, the 13-0 Green Bay Packers will be looking to stay undefeated after their last road game of the year.  Lastly, the 7-6 Chicago Bears will be looking to keep their playoff hopes alive against the Seattle Seahawks.  However, fan interest in this game is likely due to a substantial drop in ticket prices following the loss of both Jay Cutler and Matt Forte.

Making the list at #6 is our first college basketball game:  NC State vs the #1 Syracuse Orange.  College basketball is king in North Carolina so it’s not much of a surprise that the #1 team in the nation coming to Raleigh is driving ticket demand.  As the conference play starts up expect college basketball tickets to frequently make the list of top events.

Pulling up the rear are a few non-sports events.  The Radio City Christmas Spectacular makes the list for the 3rd week  in a row with their sold out show in Nashville, Trans-siberian Orchestra’s Christmas performance in Tulsa on Friday night comes in at #9, while Trey Parker and Matt Stone’s critically acclaimed “The Book of Mormon” slides in at #10.

Top Weekend Events 12/9/2011-12/11/2011

UFC 140 TicketsIt’s that time of the week again where we take a look at some of the top events going on this weekend around the US and Canada.  With college football gearing up for “Bowl Season” this week we have lots of new events on the list.   Surprisingly, only 2 NFL football games make the list.  At #4 the undefeated Green Bay Packers will look to keep their streak alive at Lambeau Field on Sunday against a pretty tough Oakland Raiders team.  At #8 Tim Tebow and his Denver Broncos will look to solidify their playoff hopes against the Jay Cutler-less Chicago Bears.  Say what you will about Tim Tebow, but interest in Denver Broncos tickets has been this high since John Elway was running the offense.

This week’s list is chock full of Christmas and shows for the whole family.  Making the list for the 2nd week in a row is the Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli.  His sold out show at the Honda Center in Anaheim is a hot ticket coming in at #2.  Other family oriented shows include White Christmas (#3), Y100’s Jingle Ball, (#6), Trans-siberian Orchestra (#7), Moscow Ballets Great Russian Nutcracker (#9), and the Radio City Christmas Spectacular (#10).  The Y100 Jingle Ball show is drawing lots of attention due to their impressive lineup including Pitbull, Kelly Clarkson, LMFAO, Demi Lovato, Cody Simpson, The Script, Gym Class Heroes, Foster the People, David Guetta, Avril Lavigne, Cobra Starship, and Karmin.  For more information on these shows be sure to check out our post on the Top 10 Holiday Shows.

Finally, coming in at #1 this week is Ultimate Fighting Championship 140.  UFC 140 will take place on Saturday December 10th in Toronto and will feature a main card of Jon Jones vs Lyoto Machida (Light heavyweight Championship), Mir vs Nogueria, Ortiz vs Nogueria, Patrick vs Ebersole, and Hominick vs Jung.
