Week 4 Top 10 College Football Games

Arkansas vs Alabama TicketsThe college football season is already in its 4th week of action and the cream of this years crop is starting to rise to the top.   Through 3 weeks the Top 5 teams in the Nation remain unchanged with Alabama leading the way followed by Ohio State, Boise State, TCU,and Oregon. The biggest change in the top 25 resulted from our week 3 game of the week- Arizona vs Iowa.  The Wildcats big win over the Hawkeyes propelled them to #14 while Iowa dropped to #18.   The week we again have some fantastic matchups including 4 games that pit two top 25 teams against each other.

In this week’s Free Ticket Classifieds Game of the Week, the #1 Alabama Crimson Tide will square off against the #10 Arkansas Razorbacks in Fayetteville.   Bama fresh off destroying the Duke Blue Devils 62-13 in Durham and will be looking to further cement their place as the #1 team in the Nation will a big win over Arkansas.  The Tide offense has been near perfect through the first 3 games.  The strength of the Bama offense is certainly their balance- they can beat you on the ground or through the air.  Quarterback Greg McElroy has completed 71.7 % of his passes for 705 yards and 6 TD with only 1 interception.  The receiving corps has also been strong with Julio Jones(248 yds, 2 tds) and Darius Hanks (170 yds, 1 td) leading the way. Alabama also has 3 legitimate running back in Trent Richardson (271 yds,4 tds , Eddie lacy (184 yds, 3 tds), and Mark Ingram (151 yds, 2 tds).  The key for Alabama will be if their defense can slow down the impressive aerial attack of the Razorbacks.

The Arkansas Razorbacks are fresh off an impressive road win over the Georgia Bulldogs (31-24).  The Razorbacks have one of the best QBs in the country in Ryan Mallett.  Mallet has amassed 1081 yards and 9 touchdowns already while throwing just 2 picks.  The play of Mallett has greatly benefited their trio of wideouts. Joe Adams (344 yds, 2 tds), Greg Childs (254 yds, 3 tds) , and DJ Williams (170 yds) have led the Arkansas offense and have hidden a lackluster running game.  If the Razorbacks are going to pull off a big upset on Saturday they will need Broderick Green (109 yds, 1 td) and Dennis Johnson (83 yds, 1 td) to control both the ball and the clock.

Whether your a Bama or Arkansas fan this will certainly be a game you will not want to miss this Saturday.  Aside from the GOTW, check out our list of the Top 10 college football matchups for week 4!

Top 10 College Football Games (Week 2)

Game of the Week: PSU vs Alabama

FTC Week 2 GOTW: Penn State vs Alabama

With most of the week 1 college football games in the books, it’s time to to look forward to what impact games are on the schedule for week 2.  Once again, the NCAA schedule makers put together many great games as the non-conference schedule pits many top ranked team from opposing conferences together.  Perhaps none more interesting than our games of the week.  Yes, you heard it right, games of the week (GOTW).  Choosing just 1 game for the GOTW was just too difficult so we decide to feature 2 great week 2 matchups:  Alabama vs Penn State and Notre Dame vs Michigan.

The Alabama Crimson Tide – Penn State Nittany Lions game promises to be one of the best games of the year as these 2 legendary football programs face off in Tuscaloosa.  It will be interesting to see how the physical PSU team matches up against the speed of Alabama.   you can bet Joe Paterno and company will try and control the clock with their strong running game and excellent defense.  The question is will it be enough to slow down the high powered offense of Bama?  Alabama is ranked #1 for a reason so PSU will have their work cut out for them.  If nothing else, Penn State should be able to control the ball and keep the game close – perhaps even putting a major scare into Alabama.

In this week’s second game of the week, we will see another pair of legendary college football teams facing off.  However, both schools have seen better days.  Both Notre Dame and Michigan have not been relevant in college football for a few years.  However, a new season bring new hope.  Both schools are coming off impressive week 1 wins:  Notre Dame defeated UCONN 30-10 while Michigan beat Purdue 23-12.  Notre Dame, under first year head coach Brian Kelly, are going with new starting QB Dayne Crist who looked solid against Purdue through for 205 yards and 1 touchdown. Armando Allen and Cierre Wood also ran the ball well for the Irish.

For the Wolverines, they have to be excited about new starting quarterback Denard Robinson.  Against Connecticut, Robinson broke a school record by rushing for 197 yards on 29 carries.  Robinson ended up accounting for 473 yards of total offense and completed 19 of 22 passes for 186 yards and a TD.  As good as Robinson looked they will need someone else to step up within Michigan’s new spread-option offense attack.

While the above mentioned games come in at #1 and #2 in our College football Games for week 2, below are the remaining 8 games to round out our top 10.
