Emblem3 to Challenge 1D? – Tickifieds Top 10

Emblem3 Logo

Can Emblem3 take down One Direction? Chime in and let us know!

We’re back with the Tickifieds Top 10 after a bit of a break.  At lot has changed since our last post but one thing remains the same – One Direction tickets are still the most in demand ticket in North America.  However, we may have a new challenger on our hands in Emblem3.  If you are not a fan of the reality show the “X Factor” you may have no idea who they are.  However, if you are an event ticket marketer, it is time to start paying attention.  Like One Direction, they did not win X Factor but have developed a large following due to exposure from the show.  The group is comprised of 3 talented young men from California (Wes Stromberg, Keaton Stromberg, and Drew Chadwick).  Although the are looking to follow in the footsteps of One Direction, don’t call them a “Boy Band”.  These guys create original music and play their own instruments.  Their sound is a fusion of alternative rock, ska, reggae and even a little rap- reminds me a little of a young Sublime.

See Emblem3 doing their original song “Sunset Boulevard” during the X Factor auditions below.

Top Weekend Events Septemeber 23 – 25

Hooray Wednesday!

I’m going to go ahead and call it that the summer concert season is officially dead.  In its place, officially, is College Football!

There are certainly some exciting games this weekend!  The top game everyone seems to want to attend is the West Virginia vs. Louisiana State game.  These two teams are competitively matched.  LSU has an absolute top notch defense, but the Mountaineer’s quarterback, Geno Smith, is a formidable opponent.

The Fight Irish vs. Panthers game is surely another tough call on who would win.  Pitt’s offense and defense have a good balance, but is it enough to show up Notre Dame?

Colorado is expected to sweep Ohio State, particularly with their star QB, Tyler Hansen, and RB Rodney Stewart.

Boise State is certainly another team to keep a keen eye on.  Since the Broncos near slaughter of the Georgia Bulldogs at the start of the season, they’re on a fast track in the national title race.   QB, Kellen Moore, is one of the best and most effectual quarterbacks currently playing in the NCAA and is expected to shatter multiple records, including most touchdowns and most wins.

For your non-football related activities this week, the hot one is definitely the 3-day i Heart Radio Festival in Las Vegas.  The festival will feature top acts like LADY GAGA ,  JAY-Z , COLDPLAY , STEVEN TYLER, THE BLACK EYED PEAS,  KENNY CHESNEY, ALICIA KEY,  JENNIFER LOPEZ, CARRIE UNDERWOOD, JANE’S ADDICTION, NICKI MINAJ , DAVID GUETTA, RASCAL FLATTS, BRUNO MARS, KELLY CLARKSON, SUBLIME WITH ROME With special guest performances by USHER, STING and JEFF BECK.  It is one FULL line-up!!

Jeff Dunham is in the same field as Terry Fator.  They are both master ventriloquistsTime Magazine wrote about his puppet characters, “All of them are politically incorrect, gratuitously insulting and ill tempered.”

Amy Winehouse – her life and influence

Alright, so let’s jump on the Amy Winehouse death scandal train, shall we?  As I’m sure you’ve heard already, the 27-year old singer died on Saturday, July 24th after a very public struggle with drugs and alcohol.  Her body was discovered by a member of her security team, who called an ambulance, but it was too late for Winehouse.  As of this posting, Police have said her cause of death is “unexplained.”  Winehouse is yet another musician to join the infamous 27 Club (a.k.a. Forever 27 Club, Club 27 or the Curse of 27).  This is a group of influential musicians who all died at the age of 27.  Other famous rock musicians in this club include Brian Jones, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison and Kurt Cobain.  Amy’s funeral was today.

Amy Winehouse was credited as an influence in the rise in popularity of female musicians and soul music, and also for revitalizing British music.  Other acts to follow her footsteps include Adele, Duffy, Lily Allen, Florence + the Machine, Lady Gaga and many others.  Rapper, Jay-Z, gave credit to Amy for revitalizing British Music.

Winehouse’s career really began with her 2003 debut album, Frank, which was critically successful in the UK and was nominated for the Mercury Prize.  Her next album, Back to Black, in 2006, earned her six Grammy Award nominations and five wins.  That tied her for the record for the most wins by a female artist in a single night and made her the first British female to win five Grammys.  In 2007, she released the song, Rehab, which might have been the anthem of her life.

Since 2007, she’s been plagued with legal troubles and well as well documented struggles with drug, alcohol abuse and violence.  Her former husband, Blake Fielder-Civil is serving time in prison.

Amy even recorded a song with Tony Bennett recently for his next album, Duets II, which is schedule for release on September 20th.

While the musical community has lost a valuable contributor, many people have a hard time feeling sympathetic towards her plight as she was given many opportunities to straighten herself out.  Whatever the case may be, RIP Amy Winehouse.

Jay-Z and Eminem Tickets On Fire

Jay-Z and Eminem TicketsJay-Z and Eminem Yankee Stadium tickets and Jay-Z and Eminem Comerica Park Detroit, MI tickets are now on sale.  The big news on the block is that Eminem and Jay-Z will perform together in Detroit, MI and in New York City this September. The new Yankee Stadium will see its first big concert on September 13th and in Detroit the concert will be at Comerica Park on September 2nd.  Since Jay-Z’s hometown is  New York City, he will be the headliner for the concert at Yankee Stadium.  Detroit is Eminem’s hometown, which of course means he’ll be the headliner at Comerica Park.  A second date has already been added in Detroit due to amazing interest in this concert tour.

Another interesting tidbit about this upcoming set of concerts is that the dynamic duo announced their ballpark concerts at the Tigers vs. Yankees game at Comerica Park on May 12, 2010.  Eminem told the media that since this is a once-in-a-lifetime gig that they would really give it back to their respective hometowns.  Jay-Z has mentioned in statements that they have so much love for their hometowns.  He also said that they would stretch the hip hop music style to prove that it can be played to live audiences.

This is the first big concert for the New Yankee Stadium which opened up for the 2009 MLB season last April.  The original Yankee Stadium which had often been referred to as the “Cathedral of Baseball” hosted many big names through the years such as U2, Pink Floyd and Billy Joel.  Interest in the Jay-Z and Eminem concert in NYC is huge, this concert will be a total sell out. In addition to Eminem’s concert in 2005, Comerica Park has also hosted major recording acts like Bruce Springsteen, The Rolling Stones, Bon Jovi and The Dave Matthews Band.  In full-stage concerts Comerica Park fans are seated on the infield diamond and the stage is in the outfield grass.  Rumor has it that Tigers players were displeased with the condition of the field after some of these concerts.

Eminem returned from a four year break in 2009 and these shows will be among the first shows he’s headlined in a very long time.  His new album is called “Recovery” which will be released this month.  Jay-Z who is married to Beyonce finished the United States portion of his BP3 2010 tour which is in support of his latest album named “The Blueprint 3.”   Jay-Z did sing “Empire State of Mind” with Alicia Keys during the 2009 World Series at the New Yankee Stadium.
This concert tour will perhaps be the “Concert of 2010.”  If you have a specific seat in mind, don’t delay in ordering your Jay-Z and Eminem tickets because if you wait they may be all gone!!!
