Darren Who? – Tickifieds Top 10

Darren Criss

Darren Criss will be out on tour in 2013 much to the delight of his legions of fans.

Although One Direction is still the #1 most searched for ticket in the land that is, it was still and interesting week as a performer I never even heard of popped up at #2 on this weeks’ top 10.  That performer is none other than Darren Criss.  While I like to think I am pretty knowledgeable when it comes  popular musical acts, this one caught me completely off guard.  I had to actually ‘google’ Mr. Criss to figure out who the heck he is.

It turns out, Darren Criss is a very talented fellow as he is an actor, singer, song writer and composer.  He is mostly know for his role as Blaine on the hit TV Series Glee but he also has had successful stints on How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying and the movie  Girl Most Likely.

Criss’s first solo music tour, which is scheduled to visit 16 cities in the U.S. and Canada from May 29 – June 30, 2013, is set to include songs from Glee, StarKid, his Human EP, and new material from his upcoming solo album.

Top Events Week 15 (4/23/2013 to 5/1/2013)

4.  Miami Heat

The Heat made easy work of the Milwaukee Bucks and are anxiously awaiting the winner of the Chicago Bulls / Brooklyn Nets series.  The Bulls would be an interesting matchup as they seem to have the Heat’s number (at least in the regular season).

5.  New York Rangers

The NY Rangers will open up the 2013 Stanley Cup Playoffs against the Washington Capitals on Thursday (5/2/2013).  Despite the fact that the Rangers are only a #6 seed, fans still have high expectations following the acquisition of Rick Nash.

6.  Blake Shelton

Country music star Blake Shelton will be hitting the road this summer and fall as part of the “Ten Times Crazier Tour”.  Joining Blake on tour will be Easton Corbin and Jana Kramer.  Popular concerts include Bristow (Jiffy Lube Live), Noblesville (Klipsch Music Center) and Wantagh (Jones Beach).

7.  New York Knicks

Carmelo Anthony and the NY Knicks are awaiting their shot at the defending NBA Champion Miami Heat.  However, the pesky Boston Celtics are not going to go down without a fight.  The Knicks were once up 3-0 but will now have to travel to Boston for Game 6.

8.  Chicago Blackhawks

The Chicago Blackhawks earned the top overall seed and nothing less than the Stanley Cup will do for hockey fans in Chi-town.  The Blackhawks are already up 1-0 on the Minnesota Wild in the 1st round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

9.  Under The Influence Of Music Tour

Wiz Khalifa will be teaming up with A$AP Rocky on the 2013 Under the Influence of Music Tour.  Expect lots of smoke filled arenas at popular venues including Riverbend, Woodlands Pavilion, and the Gexa Energy Pavilion.

2011 NHL Playoffs – Round 1 – Official

So, last week’s hockey post nailed a lot of the final playoff’s teams.  Just not all of them.   The official 2011 Playoff Teams were finally decided with a lucky last chance addition of the Blackhawks.  Below is the schedule for the first round games, which will take place April 13th27th.

Eastern Conference Quarter Final Matchups

#1 Washington Capitals vs #8 New York Rangers

#2 Philadelphia Flyers vs #7 Buffalo Sabres

#3 Boston Bruins vs #6 Montreal Canadiens

#4 Pittsburgh Penguins vs #5 Tampa Bay Lightning

Western Conference Quarter Final Matchups

#1 Vancouver Canucks vs #8 Chicago Blackhawks

#2 San Jose Sharks vs #7 Los Angeles Kings

#3 Detroit Red Wings vs Phoenix Coyotes

#4 Anaheim Ducks vs #5  Nashville Predators

In the Eastern Conference, ESPN thinks that the Capitals are holding court.  Alex Ovechkin and Alexander Semin are the key players for the team.  Not surprisingly, however, while the Caps are sitting pretty, they should fear the Rangers, as they’ve beaten them three times already this season.   Goalie Henrik Lundqvist is the glue and glitter of the team.  Watch out for him.  All in all though, it is expected for the D.C. Capitals to win.

The Flyers are a formidable team with seven 20-goal scorers.  Poor Tyler Myers from the Flyers is going to have to use his large frame to block a lot of shots coming their way.

This is Boston’s first appearance at the conference final since the 91-92 season when they lost the game to the Penguins.  Tim Thomas has been the absolute shining star on the time with his regular season save percentage (.938) and his 35-11-9 record.  Nice job, Thomas!

While the outlook seemed bleak for the Penguins, due to the injuries of Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, and Jordan Stall, Marc Andre Fleury has held the team together admirably and hopefully will continue to do so.  There is still a chance (looking slim though) that Crosby will show up for the playoffs.

The Blackhawks made the playoffs on a hope and prayer.  Jonathan Toews is one of the few survivors from last year’s championship team.  Pretty much the only hope the Blackhawks have to advance is if the Canucks make a lot of mistakes, which has been known to happen.

Joe Thornton is what stands between the Sharks and a championship.  He plays awesome regular season, but once it gets to the playoffs, he flakes out.  If he can get it together, perhaps they have a chance.  Here’s hoping!

Ah, Detroit, so nice to see you in the Playoffs again!  Nick Lidstrom leads his Red Wings in another championship attempt.  There’s no reason to discount this team.  Even the Coyotes 20 goal scorer Shane Doan, shouldn’t shake the Red Wings too much.

The Mighty Ducks!  Everyone seems to discount this team for whatever reason.  Seven guys on the team have Stanley Cup Rings,  reigning Richard trophy winner is on the team and there are two 30 goal scorers.  Corey Perry has 50 goals.

This is going to be an exciting first round of playoffs!
