Book of Mormon adding more shows

“The Book of Mormon,” if you haven’t heard already, is a Tony Award winning musical written by Trey Parker, Robert Lopez and Matt Stone, the same guys behind the hit adult cartoon, South Park and Avenue Q.  The musical is not your typical hoop skirts and love songs; it features racy and hilarious songs that poke fun at the Mormon religion, as well as other faiths, in addition to hot-button and controversial subjects like female circumcision and AIDS. The premise includes two bumbling missionaries who are sent to a remote village in Africa.

The musical first came to the Pantages in California for a 12-week run in 2012  as part of the premier national tour that started last year in Denver. The second national tour has since kicked off and will be coming to L.A.

“The Book of Mormon” has just added five more weeks to the Pantages Theatre run in Hollywood, CA. This production is scheduled to run from  Jan. 21 to March 16 in 2014.

In addition to the extended show at the Pantages Theatre, tickets also went on sale recently for the Omaha, NE  show at the Orpheum Theatre for shows running from October 12 to October 20 as well as in San Antonio, TX at the Majestic from September 17 to 29.

The first production of “Mormon” raised their curtains in 2011 at the Eugene O’Neill Theatre in New York, and it continues to be a big time Broadway grosser. The musical also opened in London at the Prince of Wales Theatre.
