Tickifieds Gets a Facelift

TickifiedsThe world’s largest (and we think best) event ticket classifieds website just got a new look.  It’s been nearly two years since we last updated the look and feel of Tickifieds and we went all out his time making it cleaner, easier to navigate, faster and more search engine friendly.

One of the biggest enhancements is the addition of the search bar to the top of the page.  Roughly 60% of our visitors will perform a ticket search while visiting the site.  We’ve made it easier and more convenient by putting the search box front and center. This will help ticket buyers not only find tickets easier but also compare ticket prices and seat location for a particular event.

Perhaps what is most apparent is the cleaned up look of the site.  We’ve eliminated a lot of redundant links and extraneous code making it much easier to navigate the site.  This not only helps reduce the time it takes to load a page but also also will help the site be even more search engine friendly.  If you pay attention to the world of search engine optimization (SEO), page load times are becoming an increasingly important ranking factor.    The new design cut the page load time in half.  Previously, according to Pingdom Tools, Tickifieds was faster than only 20-25% of websites.  Now we are happy to report that the site is faster than 70-75% of all websites!

We’ve also fixed some minor bugs while updating the site.  One of the most noticeable is a fix for the sorting of columns in our custom lists (e.g. Recent Ads, Popular Ads, Search Results, etc.).  Now users have the ability to sort these list by popular fields like event date, price, views, responses, section, row, and many more.

What do you think of the new look?

NBA Basketball is back and tickets are hot!

Clippers Tickets are hotNBA fans across the nation are happy as the 2011-2012 season has begun.  Following the labor dispute, the NBA season has been shortened to just 66 games.  That means that teams have to squeeze in a lot of games in a short period of time.  As such the season is filled with back-to-back and back-to-back-to-back games.  While the work load is likely difficult on the NBA players, fans get to enjoy some great basketball on each and every night.

In the event ticketing world, NBA tickets are a bit of an untapped market.  While most ticket brokers turn their attention to events that yield higher profit margins such as  concerts and football (both NFL and College), the market is also strong for many NBA teams.  So if you are looking to sell tickets to NBA games we’ve put together a list of the top 10 teams to market for the 2011-2012 NBA Season.

1.  LA Clippers

This one is a bit of a surprise as the Clippers have been overshadowed by the LA Lakers.  However, the addition of Chris Paul and the emergence of Blake Griffin has really drawn a lot of fan interest.

2. New York Knicks

NY Knicks fans have been waiting for a decent team to root for since the Patrick Ewing era.  With Carmelo Anthony back and the addition of Tyson Chandler this team is one of the top contenders in the NBA East.

3. Chicago Bulls

Since the Michael Jordan era Bulls tickets have always been a commodity.  Now that the Bulls are once again title contenders with MVP Derrick Rose at the helm, tickets are in even more demand.

4. Miami Heat

The Miami Heat would be much higher on the list if it weren’t for the fact they play in Miami.  Even with the 3-headed beast of James, Wade, and Bosh Miami fans just don’t seem to care much until playoff time.  Miami has to be one of the worst cities for professional sports fans!

5. Oklahoma City Thunder

Although Oklahoma City is not exactly a big basketball city, Kevin Durant and company are one of the most exciting teams in the NBA.

6. LA Lakers

Los Angeles Lakers tickets are always in demand and this season will be no exception even though they are expected to be on the decline following the retirement of Phil Jackson.  However, any team with Kobe Bryant will draw in the fans.

7. Orlando Magic

Magic fans are coming out in droves to convince perennial MVP candidate Dwight Howard he should stay.

8. Dallas Mavericks

Fresh off their NBA Championship season the Mavs are a little long in the tooth but they still are the champs.  They also still have Dirk Nowitski and should be a lock for another playoff season.

9. New Jersey Nets

Tickets to Nets games are on the rise with continued rumors of a Dwight Howard trade.  Throw in a move next year to the Bronx and the acquisition of Deron Williams and things are looking up for the Nets franchise.

10. Denver Nuggets

It looks as though Nuggets fans are saying good riddance to Carmelo Anthony.  While they no longer have their superstar their team basketball and solid defense has them looking really good!
